Thank you for reacting to Stranger, yet another masterpiece composed by Igor for Dimash. It was Dimash’s idea to incorporate the beautiful and haunting sound of the Qobyz: what a brilliant addition to the composition! It gives much more depth to the meaning of the song I think. Also, listening to Stranger is in and of itself a musical journey where we’re accompanying Dimash through this “stranger’s land” with each and every vocal technique and singing style which denotes a different culture and path in life. Dimash is such an amazing storyteller and performer! Could you please react to: Dimash and Tengri, “Swan Goose” kzbin.info/www/bejne/bn2oiYSZqdFjh5I Dimash and Li Yugang, Drunken Concubine and Diva Dance kzbin.info/www/bejne/boWWe2yKprpgh68 Cheers from a Texas Dear! ☺️

I love this song. I love Dimash. The note at the end was 20 seconds, sinful passion was 23 seconds but he has sung for 28 but can’t remember the name of the song. Dimash is just unreal, no one can beat him. Igor Krutoy has wrote another with Dimash called olimpico ogni pietra, a song only Dimash can sing, it’s absolutely fantastic. Other fantastic songs in english are a movie track across endless, screaming, official video and live are brilliant, be with me, fly away, show must go on, adagio, all by myself and hello, last 4 from the singer show

Funny thing is, when they are in Russia, Igor is the superstar and Dimash is a rising star. Igor is a living legend. From my understanding, when Igor was asked why he came out of retirement, he stated he had waited his whole life for Dimash. We have seen Lennon and McCartney, Elton John and Bernie Taupin, and now Igor and Dimash...the newest incredible songwriting team. There is no limit to Dimash's greatness and Igor's ability to compose songs that only Dimash's voice can sing make for an incredible team.

Stranger is an epic song with touches of medieval, Gregorian and even a march together. I love Dimash’s different voice textures specially the Middle East vibes in those riffs and runs 🎤❤️🔝🎼👏👏 Igor Krutoy said “It was Dimash’s talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities and his desire to sing for a large international audience. Franky, I don’t see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way” The gentleman playing the Kobyz is master Olzhas Qurmanbeck, the best player in Kazakhstan 🎻🔝 Kobyz is an ancient tool of the Kazakh people. It was used in ancient times by steppe shamans-healers for various rites. Kobyzy is made from a single piece of wood. This is one of the oldest ways of making musical instruments in the history of mankind. It is not due to technical backwardness or the lack of metal devices. According to the ancient beliefs of many people, only in a single piece will the living singing soul of the tree remain, which will sound in the instrument. The open body and strings of the kobyz from a bunch of 30-60 untwisted horse hair give a very thick, overtone-rich timbre. The Kobyz is the first stringed instrument ever.

I heard an interview with Dimash where he was told he should be thankful for his god-given talent. He replied, “I never forget to be grateful for what I was born with (sic), but it also is the result of a lot of hard work!” (Like 20+ years of 3 hours of practice every day! Plus swimming laps an hour a day to build up his lungs! How many would dedicate themselves like that?)

👉 Here is playing the best Kobys player in the world, Dimash’s friend Olzhas Qurmanbeck. This bowl-neck lute played with a bow is is an old Turkic stringed instrument and called Kobys, Qobyz or Kylkobyz in Kazakhstan. The Kyrgyz variant, for example, is called the kyl-kyyak. The Kobys is the oldest string instrument in the world and, according to a German scientist, it spread beyond the borders of the nomadic area of Central Asia and became the mother (prototype) of all European string instruments. (Turkic means: The Turkic peoples are a collection of ethnic groups from Central, East, North and West Asia as well as parts of Europe and North Africa who speak Turkic languages. Difference between Turkic and Turkish - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqLbmad4msiJm8k ) A legend about Kobyz says that this instrument was created by the great steppe narrator Korkyt-Ata, who lived in the 10th century and that the tool is charged with magical and even mystical properties and sounds like animal voices. In addition, the Kazakh people believed that the spirits of their ancestors spoke to them through this music. The old outlook and piety towards their instruments and music was constantly preserved in traditional Kazakh society and ensured the highest spiritual level of musical art and a special respectful attitude towards musical instruments. Simple people, for example, did not dare to touch the shaman's Kobyz. It is said: The balance between the courses of life and death on earth can be maintained by playing the Kobyz.

You need to react to his Tokyo Jazz Festival 2020, Samaltau. The sound that the Kobyz, Kazakh ancient two string, is splendid. Samaltau is a folk song based on the live of a young Kazakh man forced to go to WWI by the Russians. Dimash considered this song one of the most difficult for him to sing. You will like it. The instrument is the Kobyz. It's a 2 stringed instrument, with one string made up of 75 horse hairs, and the other string made from 60 horsehairs (and the curved bow which is made with 40 horse hairs). The strings aren't pushed down to a fret, but rather are played with pressure by either the fingernail, or by a pad on the finger, as well as the tones varied by the pressure of the bow.

👉That is the premiere of this song: Maestro Igor Krutoy and Dimash Qudaibergen have created the really unique song in English with enchanting oriental melodies. “It was Dimash’s talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities and his desire to sing for a large international audience... I don’t see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way”. - Krutoy said. (dimashnews) A Dear hits the nail on the head with this statement: “These are the voices of the world singing the tragedy of human migration forced by tragic circumstances.” Igor Krutoy (Krutoy means 'Cool', *1954 in Ukraine SSR). He lives and works in Moscow/ Russia. He is singer, a world- famous composer and music titan in Russia (billionaire). His family is in the US now. Krutoy came out of retirement to write songs for Dimash. The maestro and Dimash have been working together from time to time since 2018. They are friends and have a father-son relationship. Dimash said also in an interview about the collaboration with Igor Krutoy that it is important to him that the songs are written in such a way that there is room for variations ... so every performance of a song is a surprise and every Dear can choose his favorite presentation... I can not decide. The lyrics were written by Mary Sharon Vaughn (*1947, American musician, songwriter and producer. She writes hits for famous singers around the world, including Lara Fabian) * Premiere at the New Wave 2021 (Russia): Stranger - kzbin.info/www/bejne/onfWc2h-i9OgiaM * Here, the often forgotten unique, spectacular, different version in China: Stranger - Shine! Dimash and the composer of this song, Igor Krutoy (at the piano), often use archetypes in their music. This epic piece evokes the journey of soul (wandering in ancient times, haunted by memories, and lost lives and loves ) as it finds itself in an expanded state of awareness (new ground, chance to know who I am, begin again). Hesitantly at first, even pretending to stumble a bit, but with growing confidence, Dimash takes us on a journey and with that last refrain, he totally owns this new ground. Since the archetype of this piece is the hero's journey, it does feel like it should serve as the music track to an epic movie as so many commenters have written. Like in many of his arrangements, Dimash incorporates sacred music traditions of different cultures and ages into something uniquely his own. The music of ancient cultures often used chants, overtone, throat singing, and melismatic techniques to induce a hypnotic trance in the listener. Dimash is not only aware of the power of music to alter one’s state of consciousness, he wields this power masterfully, but always with great respect. His friend since his teenage years, Erlan Bekchurin, is a brilliant arranger and knows exactly what Dimash wants to accomplish. Together they create magic. Dimash insisted on the use of the Kobyz, an instrument which was used in Kazakh shamanism to communicate with spirits, and it fits beautifully. Dimash's friend and fellow Kazakh and best Kobyz player in the world, Olzhas Qurmanbeck, performs masterfully as always.

Dimash premiered "Stranger"+"Fly Away"+"Ave Maria" in 2021, at New Wave - a competition, where he participated as a judge and guest performer. These 3 songs were the way he stepped back on stage, on "new ground... new chance to know who I am, if I have the strength to begin again" (Stranger) after ~ 2 years of pandemic restrictions that slowed down his blooming career. Aside from stepping on a old yet new ground after the pandemic, "Stranger" is a bit of a tribute to his kazakh heritage, with Dimash insisting that the qobyz were part of the instrumental, and some of the lyrics "somewhere in my heart in ancient times I wondered, through these valleys I have climbed among these hills" /// Igor wasn`t exactly retired (it`s more of a word of mouth error), but he was looking for inspiration, and boy did he find it with Dimash :) After they started collaborating, Igor made Dimash the top priority in his work. They have an almost father - son relationship, they don`t have a contract binding them together, their collaboration is based on mutual respect and admiration :) (Dimash shared in an interview that when he was younger - teenager maybe - he knew Igor`s work with artists like Lara Fabian, Andrea Bocelli etc, and he said that he was jealous, and wished Igor would work with him someday 😄) P.S. The last note in this one was ~19 seconds in one breath, but in "Sinful Passion" he did a glissando into crazy high mix + descending riffs n runs that lasted 25 seconds in one breath :))

Hi Bob, thanks for sharing your reaction and analysis to this masterpiece performed by the great Dimash. I have seen how from 2017 to today Dimash has evolved a lot and what you say is true, each of his songs catches you, you like it, it makes you feel as if you were there seeing him in person and on the other hand, the songs all They have in their lyrics a very human sense with messages that give you encouragement and others so moving that it is difficult not to cry. You still have a lot to see and it will be very pleasant. Dimash sings in several languages (Kazakh, Russian, Italian, French, Chinese, Japanese, English, among others and will soon do so in Spanish). He sings in various genres and plays various musical instruments. I would like to see your reaction to “Olimpico” https ://kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpyzhGmqbZmknZY Greetings from Venezuela

I LOVE when Dimash does the vocalizing part. The second voice there is my favorite. Almost brings me to tears, it is so beautiful. I also love the part where it seems like whispering voices around him. Over all, a magical performance!

An interesting note: Sharon Vaughn is an American songwriter lyricist who is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. One of her most famous songs is "All My Heroes Have Been Cowboys", made famous by Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings.

Инструмент который начинает композицию, это казахский национальный струнный инструмент КОБЫЗ... имеет две струны. Некоторые его называют "родственником" (братом) казахской домбры.

Igor Krutoy is not retired, he is an active composer who also writes for other vocalists, but he really knows how to write very well for Dimash, knowing his amazing abilities. Thank you for

I like how you talk about how much work it requires to sing at his level. Its not just some talent that he was born with, he must have sacrificed so much to gain such skills. And not to even mention the pressure he must feel when performing live. His fans consider him to be a singing god, yet he is just human. Imagine how it must feel like for him to be on stage, performing. What if you dont feel 100%, what if youre just a bit off. It must be a crushing feeling. Definitely not helped by his occasionally even delusionally rabid fanbase, who think he can do no wrong, sing no mistake ever

If you like that whispery eeriness, you will love Passionne which is another Igor/Dimash collaboration. There are two versions, one with ice skaters and another on stage. I prefer the one on the stage as it focuses more on Dimash. Another masterpiece. (Dimash is wearing a white suit against a red background)

THANK YOU! I always appreciate your reaction to and analysis of Dimash’s performances. Krutoy composes a song for Dimash; then he and Dimash collaborate. For example, it was Dimash’s suggestion to add the kobyz, which adds greatly the mysticism/ mystique!

Igor is a fantastic composer.,isn't he? My favourite of the Dimash songs composed by Igor is The Love of Tired Swans. It was written about 20 years earlier, I believe, and Lara Fabian sang it.That's worth checking out too.(Both versions) There is a MV with Dimash doing LOTS but my favourite is the one from the Kremlin, only because I can focus more on the music without being distracted. The MV is very good though.I have to compliment you on the sound and video quality , it ws supurb.I've never seen such detail in Stranger before. It was so nice to see the clip with no blurring or bars .

Thanks for a great reaction video :) Your right- Dimash has tons of styles of songs- he's even done a bit rap in one song lol. Maybe you could try 'across endless dimensions' or 'screaming' (Music Video) to hear some of his more modern pop sorta stuff. A few other really great songs i'd recommend are 'Your love' kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2HcgGqJrp58mbs (another by Igor) and 'Daybreak' kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJy9hX2ggdR3bJY (arnu tour not singer version where he was a bit ill). If you do daybreak some time you might want to look a little into the real life story behind the song before you watch it.

I always look forward to your Dimash reactions. I just want to give you a heads-up that many of Dimash songs stay in a gorgeous mid range. Some reacters get disappointed when they hear a song that doesn't use his highest notes because they are waiting the whole song for it, and when it doesn't come they feel let down. So, I'm just letting you know. Some of my favorite Dimash songs are in his beautiful midrange.

Mine also. Just because Dimash is capable of amazing vocal acrobatics doesn't mean he has to demonstrate that in every single song, especially when merely showing off his vocal capabilities would get in the way of the message the song was written to convey. I respect his wisdom as an artist to discern when using his full range is artistically appropriate and when it's just mere showing off for the sake of showing off, and not giving in to the pressure to "show us the full rollercoaster" with every single performance just because some Dears only want that.
