Great reaction… I love how you put it all together.The Love of Tired Swans is pretty incredible, based on a fairytale about two swans, each with one wing; Know is also very cinematic, based on Adam and Eve; Okay is based on the persecution of artists and musicians when Stalin came to power in the 1930s. In all of these Dimash is spectacular . Golden is beautiful and a sort of steampunk Robin Hood story. They are all a bit earlier. Qairan Elim (My Beloved Country) Dimash co directed and filmed with his friends Olzhas on the Kobyz and the composer Renat Gaisin on the piano. They filmed this during the pandemic and it is a sort of love letter to Kazakhstan and by extension to the world. So many have suffered but “what is tempered can’t be broken,” and it ends with hope. This is also a deep dive into the genius of Dimash. Be with Me is funny and fun as is Smoke. I do not know but suspect he may have had a bit less control over the early ones (although no one can make him do what he does not want to do!) but all are cinematic marvels with a lot for you to analyze and appreciate. Once you start seeing DimashAli, his huge production company in the beginning credits, you know it is all Dimash. My vote is for Golden next, then Love of Tired Swans!

This was filmed locally in Almaty Quazakstan. Small is a shopping centre group. The girl is an Olympic swimmer, also local I believe. Her name escapes me. The Igor character is a local Cuban immigrant who runs his own dance studio. That song in the beginning is the Flower Duet Song, a famous operatic piece, and it’s an old original recording.

Yet another brilliant reaction and analysis Jesse. There are two Dimash videos that in the past have been notoriously difficult to get through copyright in the past, however they are absolutely amazing and since Dimash changed his music distribution company seem to be easier for reactors to work with now so you may wish to check them out. Golden - Cyberpunk masterpiece Akkuym - just a brilliantly told incredibly sad love story. Another one that's easier is Okay, the song itself took a while to grow on me but the music video was gripping right from the outset. It's a bit of a cliff hanger ending because they decided to cut the last 48 seconds but as with all art you draw your own conclusions.

You asked about the journalist: apparently, it was difficult to cast someone for the part and many girls were auditioned, but she was very good in the rôle. Her name is Polina Guzieva, and she’s a Kazakh track athlete and model - I don’t know how much acting experience she has … Also - I can’t remember if someone has already told you - Dimash was awarded a state scholarship to study film directing at the NY Film Academy in LA last year, but eventually decided he was too involved in other projects to give the course the attention it needed, so he gave it up to allow someone else to have the opportunity …he did spend several months working in LA, though - this video was one of the projects.

A brief note about DimashAli Creative Center. It was founded by Dimash's father Kanat Aitbayev and a friend, they named it after their two sons. Kanat Aitbayev is also the executive producer of this video. Both of Dimash's parents are professional musicians. Dimash's mother Svetlana Aitbayeva is a renowned singer who has earned the title "Honored Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan". This indeed is a family production.

Dimash is a genius! A great storyteller and paradigm breaker! Anyone who watched the video, made by a fan with his cell phone, of Dimash's show in Hong Kong, had the pleasure of a first contact with the song “When I've Got You” and realized, in Dimash's own music and in the lyrics by Candice Kelly and Dmytro Gordon, a romantic, seductive and passionate song sung with Dimash's own virtuosity. There was tension and anxiety in being able to watch the studio version with better sound quality... Now, with the release of this music video, we realize how creative Dimash is: A suspense video with a “noir” atmosphere, but without being located in the past, and a tale of passion about a supernatural creature who feels alone and needs to fulfill his passion for a mortal woman who suffers for wanting and not wanting turn her into one of his supernatural creatures. Iskander Yerbolat's plot intrigues us to solve the mystery of the entire tale being a dream of a journalist who interviews “DQ”, or being a reality where the “vampire” did not bite his “prey” out of love! Intriguing... The video is a show in itself: Desaturated with vivid red details (umbrella, blood in the hands, blood in the pool, advertising sign, neon on the mirror...), a classic Rolls Royce, a gloomy and modern mansion and lots of details. As background music, he uses the work “Flower Duet” (Lakimé) by Léo Delibes. To create an old and suspenseful atmosphere, he does not use the 1968 edition and recording, by Joan Sutherland and Jane Berbié, but rather the original version from 1915, sung by Alexandrovna Mikhailova and Ivanovna Panina, recorded with a gramophone! The music video is a story that pays homage to several classic dramas involving supernatural creatures and passion!
