@@purgatorialuk dime was never as unhealthy as vinnie even since the early days. even if he got unhealthy later on, just not being fat in your youth alone will add a buffer to your ill health later on. of course random circumstance can take anyone out.

Got to meet him at a autograph signing with the rest of Pantera in Indianapolis , In in 2000. He was very cool. I told him that he was the best player alive. He was like "Ah thanks very much man!" He seemed genuinely happy to be there. I still have the autograph.

He’s unreal, he is one of the most incredible of people to have ever lived. It’s a shame that he isn’t as looked up to more. It’s because he’s a heavy metal icon and most people don’t like heavy metal. I don’t know of any musician that plays with this much emotion. He definitely possessed a mind that is unique. I don’t choke up, but I can see why people do. RIP forever

I saw Damageplan Nov. 2, 2004 in Houston at a little club called Numbers. Got to chat with the brothers a little bit. Always down to Earth with their fans. It was extremely hard to come to grips with his passing a month later. I don't know if it was because I had just seen them a month before or because I had seen them over a dozen times from 1991 thru 2001 as Pantera. Or maybe it was because Darrell was such a great human being and didn't deserve what happened to him in the slightest. I just know that the people from my generation, and I was 26 at the time, and older were gut punched by his senseless killing. I was lucky to have met him and Vince several times being from Texas and all, but even the people that never had the pleasure still felt like they knew him. That's the impact this Kat had on people. He truly is one man that will never be forgotten.

Enquanto muitos guitarristas dos grandes do rock se tornaram mais "ninchados" com o passar do tempo ao encontrar seu proprio estilo (alguns se tornando até monotonos) Dimebag só melhorava e se tornava mais completo. É muito perceptivel que em 2004 ele tava no seu auge como instrumentista, tecnica e melodicamente. Eu nem consigo imaginar como ele estaria expressando sua voz na guitarra hoje em dia. I was fortunate to meet dime and Vinnie and the rest of damage plan. Dime was a very nice and cool guy. He signed everything I brought for him no questions asked. I wish I got a pic with him but was happy to meet him and talk with him a bit about black label society. He loved my BLS shirt and he was excited to show the BLS tat on his forearm. That was on 4/20/2004 in Houston.

No one knew what would happen a short time after this, still devestating after 18 years. Your still missed Dime, and so is Vince and mayhem and to all the other people that passed on that fateful night. I think we all take some comfort in knowing that you and Vince are together again and you're with the others in the Rock heaven upstairs making music that we won't hear until we come to join you guys much love and respect

Looking back to the 90's Metals. I think "Dimebag Darrel (PANTERA) had everything with a guitar". He had the talent, skill set and the fast hands to do it with i don't think there will ever be as good as a guitar player like DimeBag, well if u don't count James hetfield, dave mustain and Zakk Wylde lol, they're awesome as well, don't get me wrong but Dimebag's solo's we're sick!!!!!! Seen all kinds of comments about dimes playing. I can’t say much anyone else hasn’t about it. But, what I think separates dime from the rest of the field in metal is very simple but yet superbly complex. He played metal with swing. That my friends is a straight up testament to how much he loved Eddie. The king, influencing the king, with swing.
