Heard this one on “X Minus One” as well. It looks to me like that radio program from about 5 years later repeated most of these shows then bid even more. Great Heinlein story. By the way, at 19:30 when Gaines asks “How many of you want a chance to kill the louse that did it?” He’s asking rhetorically to weed out the hotheads. Anyone that raised their hand was dismissed from the detail. Whoever wrote the radio play here transcribed the Heinlein story incorrectly. The X Minus One version (from January 1956) has it as written.

My imagination really goes with this presentation. I have listened to "The Roads Must Roll", probably, over fifty times since I first had XM Radio in a vehicle back in late-2003. There is something very essential about this episode and it's actually more compelling to listen to while driving.
