This was an experiment I wanted to try, in which I'd create a Blender scene that would mimic the real-world objects, including camera movement and field of view. There would be no raytracing; the objects would only have a single shadeless material that, after a UV unwrap was done for each object, would display the film image sequence as a texture. The texture projection was handled by the "UV Projection" modifier for each object.
Then, when it was over and I was satisfied with the movement and the textures projected onto the models, I used Sebastian Schneider's stereoscopic camera add-on to create and test the stereo camera. I then created two new scenes, each with objects linked: one each for the left and right cameras. Then, in the original scene's Node editor, I used the ".L" and ".R" scenes as inputs, combining the red from the left camera and the blue+green from the right channel.
