Thanks Tomasz ! :-) It is indeed a challenge to protect everything properly and keep it beautiful. Especially now with this weather today ... Fortunately, it has not yet become as bad as the predictions. The coldest was -6 degrees last two nights, during the day between -1 & -4 degrees. So it is not too bad. It will indeed be worth something now. But I bought almost everything small and planted it out.👍 I have only bought slowly growers, such as Trithrinax, Brahea, Cycas and also the Dicksonias, in large size. Otherwise I'll be retired if I have to grow it big...🙈😇

Thank you. 🙏😊 Here you have a recent video of my garden -> kzbin.info/www/bejne/fojcYaedqJaCeLM I started with exotics in 2008. The coldest in my garden I've experienced here in 15 years was -18°C. That was very extreme and exceptional. It's zone 8b here.

Thanks Joel. 😊 No, the Archontophoenix is too tropical for here. It really has to be kept frost-free and that is almost impossible to do. Especially if it gets bigger. It also doesn't get warm enough here for very long. With a bit of luck it will be around 25°C for 2 months, here and there with some peaks. My Syagrus isn't really a good try either. It has been in the ground for three years now and has barely made 3 leaves since then. It therefore hardly grows due to a lack of heat and it should also receive almost no frost. I'm thinking about getting rid of this one and putting something else in its place, unfortunately. 🤷‍♂️

In recent years the winters here have been very mild, occasionally light frost. At this moment, after 10 years, another cold wave with severe frost and ice days. Predictions gave a whole week -8 -9 degrees at night and during the day a -5 -6 degrees. In reality it has only gone down to -6 degrees here the last two nights, during the day between -1 & -4 degrees. Normally the winters here are quite severe, temperatures down to -10 are more common but usually it only goes up to -5 to -6. Occasional snow but more than 15cm is very exceptional.

Everything becomes clear there and you can also see how I protect my large Tree Ferns.😉 It is the 'Dicksonia antarctica', this species can survive quite some frost. How long has the Queen Palm been planted, and is it still o.k?

I planted the queen palm in 2019 last year. Last winter here was extremely mild, barely frost. So the queen palm is still ok. It is a risk but also a challenge, which makes it so much fun. 😊 I hope it will survive for many years to come because it is a very beautiful palm species. 👍

Merci Niko.😊 Une bonne et solide protection hivernale est indispensable. Je construis une cage autour des plantes avec des feuilles de polycarbonate de 32 mm d'épaisseur. Je chauffe également avec un radiateur soufflant. Jetez aussi un œil à mon Facebook, il y a plusieurs photos et il est public, donc tout le monde peut le voir, même sans compte facebook.
