I've been writing poetry as a self soothing act since I was a child. I will be 40 years old next June, and I'm considering beginning the publishing process. I have about 10 journals full of poetry and several other loose pages, even napkins, of hastily written ideas.

I have four poetry books (but they're in spanish because it is my first language). I published one this month, i just use WORD and CANVA for the inside/ outside... I want to publish the other three books but i am not sure if it is ok or convenient to publish all at once... Of course i have no sells (well, just two sells)

Felicidades on the publishing of your book! 🥳 Usually, it's a good idea to take some time between publishing books, as you want to give people time to purchase and spend time with each one. Sometimes, authors publish multiple books at the same time, and one can suffer in sales over the other. I think you should concentrate on letting people know about the book and having others share the link in order to get more people interested.

Hello Sarah, Amazon creates the ISBN as well as the barcode but in your design process you want to make sure that you don't block that area.

Hello, you will have to make the copyright page yourself. Look at a few versions in different books and make it your own.

how to put poetry in manuscript. I uploaded one poem. It said it needed 76 pages. It would not accept the next poem

You have to copy and paste all of your poems in one document. The very first page of your book should be your title page, followed by your copyright page, then the table of contents. The next page is either a dedication page or a note from the author (this is optional). After this point it's poem1, 2, 3, etc. KDP apparently is asking for 76 pages but that's 76 pages total and not 76 one page poems. Hopefully this helps you.

That depends on book size, font size, etc. I'd say an ideal page count should be at least 45 on a word document. That'll put you around 100 pages if the book's dimensions are an 5.5x7

60 pages that you currently have in a word document or 60 pages of a poetry book? I ask this because the size of the book will determine how many pages are actually in the printed copy. For example, my recent poetry book is around 100 pages. But in the word document, it appears to be 65. Shrinking the page size will increase your page numbers.

The price is for the cost of a proof copy, which I recommend you get, as it's way easier to catch mistakes in-print rather than a digital file. You will only pay for the cost of printing.

Jumping straight to spoiler alert so I don't waste time on a video possibly.... By that "Chef's Kiss Poety Ready" comment.... Does this mean you are of the mindset and push that everything must be 'perfect' ? Be a specific way thus not individual writer but like a group of people (some kind of specific, a standard...), rules, and practically a damn diploma to be worthy? (Yes I have run into several like that, why I am asking this way) If so, peace out. I have rhn across way too many people with that advocated view.... I'm looking for someone who doesn't make ya feel like you're in a fashion industry rule set tailored for writing perfectionism.... Looking for a neutral view, factual. not "chef's kiss" 'standard'. someone who talks about the factual steps, not how good one's work has to be... non-judgmental

This sounds like a lot of work and stuff needs to be copyrighted. I have some poems and short stories but its not easy on this competitive area and some that are after to get you if you don't be careful. Who can you really trust to share to the world?

If you watch the entire playlist, I answer how you can copyright the work and protect yourself pretty simply. In regards to a competitive market and who you can trust, this is true. With Amazon's KDP, there's nothing else in it for them besides taking a bit of the cost off the top of the sale for producing the book and in regards to it being competitive, this is the toughest part about being a writer. It's important to build a community of folks that will engage with your writing. And this can be as big or small of a community as you'd like to work to nurture.
