I don't think Shagrath's vocals have gotten worse, they're less black, certainly, but in the right context and song they're still beautiful in studio and live. Obiouvsly a song in the style of EDT is not done to be sang this way, but it's cool to hear another version.

that may be, and thats why i would have liked him to concentrate on his own bands where he worked good. i just don't see him offering dimmu any advantages compared to astennu. also i don't think astennu for him self can write alone music that reaches the level of what they made with dimmu. as i listened to astennus other bands, none of them gave me the feeling of dimmu 1997-2000.

This was pretty mediocre. Even after all the sales and production and promotions since the end of the 90s to see them perform this poorly is rather ironic. From rags to riches, but in the process losing most of what made them a step above the other Norwegian bands. Instead of making bullshit costumes they need to sit down with some old analog gear and really try to come up with better work not relying on modern day gimmicks. Shagrath would have to hire a real unclean vocalist though, no question

I agree. I think their best era was from 95-99'. Lots of great songs with much simplicity. Mustis was brilliant but Stian Aarstad wrote the most memorable and catchy melodies with that old Korg X5. Shargrath didn't sing like a bitch either. I stopped following them after the Puritanical album.

I don't call taking the studio solo and rearranging it once in awhile but still keeping the pace and style of it live failing at what he does. After Astennu and Tjodalv left the band they began to decline, point blank. I'm not enough of a norsecore bm fanboy to give a shit about all the side projects, by the time EDT was released I was already listening to BM from Bulgaria, Hungary and Sweden and so forth which overshadowed norsecore BM almost completely.
