I'm 67 years old. If I was at this show I would be up out of my seat and going crazy. Maybe I like this band for technical reasons but the power and the tightness totally overwhelm me. I like to listen to music with headphones and this band is incredible.

@oliverpura9876 Considering that you'd been alive for 7 Decades and have seen and heard all kinds of music that has come and gone from Elvis to Lady-Gaga and everything in between... Your observation about Dimmu Borgir definitely says a lot. Imo... while black metal is certainly not everyone's cup of tea... I don't think it gets a fraction of the credit it really deserves... and this especially so for Norwegian Symphonic Black Metal bands like Dimmu Borgir, Emperor and a few others. 🤘🤘

I love the "tone" of this performance. The tuned their guitars perfectly for this performance. The recent Wacken versions have sucked because the guitars are tuned too low, and Daray doesn't play the drums at the correct tempo (he plays slower than Nick Barker and Tony Laureano, who played for this performance) until the last stanza.

Daylight has finally reached it's end As evenfall strikes into the sky Far away in the dark glimpsing moonlight Sickening souls cry out in pain Whispering voices summoning screams Waiting for Satan to bless their sins Blackhearted angels fallen from grace Posessed by the search for utter darkness Hear the cries from the Mourning Palace Feel the gloom of restless spirits Hear the screams from the Mouring Palace Feel the doom of haunting chants Eternal is their lives in misery Eternal is their lives in grief Abandoned in a void of nothingness A chain of anger, a fetter of despair In this garden of depraved beings This unsacred place of helpless ones Satan blessed the creatures Inswathed them in endless night Whispering voices, summoning screams Waiting for Satan to bless their sins Blackhearted angels fallen from grace Posessed by the search for utter darkness

To be fair, a whole lot of us had never seen or heard of Dimmu Borgir back in 2004. I think as people started to tune out of shitty, Billboard free radio around this time, and with metalcore and melodic death metal's growth, the "trickle down effect of non-radio metal genres" helped bands like Dimmu gain exposure in the US. I heard about Dimmu from Terrorizer magazine back in 2005. Got on early ass KZbin and was blown away. Dimmu was a well known band 3 years later when they released In Sorte Diaboli and headline toured across the US, Canada and Mexico.

@yolopukki567 yeah, this is ozzfest. Wouldn't expect much from that crowd in general. (Don't get me wrong. I went to ozzfest in 2000, got to see Black Sabbath reunion, got to see Slayer, among other cool shit.) But this is largely a festival for commercially viable metal (which Dimmu is, as far as extreme metal goes) but don't expect too much from this crowd. They're here for Nu Metal, by and large (and let me be clear: that's fine. I take no issue with people loving nu metal. . . Do what makes you happiest.)

People, you have to understand that in 04 symphonic black metal was something completely new to the american public, they had never heard anything like this before. That's what Dimmu said many times in their interviews: concerts in the US were hard for them because the crowd didn't really know how to react to this "new" kind of music (new for them anyway).

Always a savage song 2 listen 2. The keyboard embellishes and compliments the sound perfectly particualarly at the chorus, and the drums and guitar blend seamlessly with each other. I love Shagrath's voice. Unlike other artists, there is no strain in the growl there - it's so natural! Borgir!!!!

Having seen Dimmu Borgir live twice (when Mustis and Vortex were still in the band), it was an experience i will never forget. I`m from Holland and we know how to have a good time to this kind of music, as opposed to the crowd on this video. Plus Dimmu Borgir can really get the crowd going wild. And to be honest, who wouldn`t go wild at a concert of Dimmu Borgir? This music is great!!! I listen to all kinds of music, but Dimmu Borgir is certainly amongst the music i consider legendary
