Wish I had seen this video 5 months ago! I purchase the Dimplex 42" with Weather Concrete. It has not yet been unboxed or installed because we are in the process of building a new home. Ater watching your video with the two options side by side I think the herringbone back drop makes the flame and the overall appearance of the fireplace look WAY more realistic. I reached out for an exchange but Dimplex said no because my purchase date was 5 months ago. Do you know if it is possible to purchase a herringbone back drop as a replacement part? Otherwise I am stuck with a product that I can tell from your video- I am not going to like.

I might be mistaken but it looks like the speed of the flames are moving faster in the smaller one on the right. Are the flame speeds adjustable?

You can adjust the brightness and flicker

From just watching the video the ember bed does look the least realistic of all the components. Is it possible to add some extra ember (ash) material to partially cover the floor and still have that glow coming through? Would it help with more realistic look you think?

What is the benefit of the portrait model over the regular size for the 36”? Do you think portrait looks more realistic?

no flame will be the same, I would say it will come down to if you just want a bigger viewing area or not

When the heater is on it's very noisy. Either this or the unit is defective

We have a gas fireplace. Is it possible to switch out to electric? The gas fireplace just gets way too hot.

Possibly. It may require some construction but it’s definitely doable
