It's so fascinating to see this kind of festival spark interest among foreigners. We have 175 ethnolinguistic groups, a proof of our cultural diversity. I wish we could have more festivals like this. I don't think many Filipinos realize that our cultural diversity is what makes us unique. Let us not lose this uniqueness. There are tons of beautiful countries with cities full of high rise buildings in the world now, but there is not much nations that celebrate different cultures. Only in the Philippines will you see the whole country celebrating the Feast of the Black Nazarene and Eid'l Fitr at the same time. Thank you for this, Finn. Thank you for digging deeper into our culture. You and Kyle show the side of the Philippines that other Travel Vloggers disregard: The hospitality and the resilience of the Filipinos and the diversity of PH culture. As a Filipino, I feel like this is what makes me proud of my country, for these are the traits that makes you want to come back and maybe, settle here for good. Kudos to you! I just subscribed.

Just now watching this in 2021. The incredible creativity in choreography, theme, planning and the work into making the imagination into the final performance. Finn's photography also excellent. How proud we should be of our country. I have never visited my parent's native country, but I wish I had before I was too old to travel well. It is time for people to recognize the Philippines as an emerging force in the world.

What many don’t realize is the time and effort put into these performances. Costumes, props, and sets are only half of it. Coordinating a schedule with everyone and then learning, blocking, and fine tuning choreography, and then to learn how to do it while moving is an extraordinary feat in and of itself. I was lucky enough to learn it small scale here in the states when we contracted the late Sir Edwin Duero (previous dinagyang group coordinator winner) to come out and and teach us. An invaluable experience that I will forever cherish. Thanks for this video! It really captures the essence and the energy that these performers have for this tradition.

Finn, one reason why there's no traffic that time is because during the Dinagyang festival, all public transportation from outside the city is withheld at least 3-5 kilometers from the city proper. It means people from outside the city would need to walk for at least that long.

If you had arrived for the parade at Sinulog 2 weeks ago, you would have seen similar (but different) performances like what you experienced at Dinagyang. Thank you for sharing the highlights of Dinagyang, especially the night parade which I was unaware of.
