I remember this when I was a child. Life was different then and prejudice was in the open. Diana was not only talented but could recognize great talent in others. Rumors were spread around that she was part black because of things like this duet. Both of these women were lovely people in a ugly time. I’m so glad this video exists. Both of course were stars in their time on pure talent.

It's so evident to me as a born-again Christian that Mahalia Jackson genuinely LOVED the Lord Jesus Christ and was a CHILD OF GOD!

Shout to Harold Smith who penned this song. Harrold had a choir called the Harold smith majestics.

Sad but true her show was cancelled because companies didn't want sponsor her..

It was because of Dinah Shore that CBS gave Mahalia her own show. Then they chickened out because it was too ethnic despite its popularity. O_o

Such sad times , but Dinah Shore got some bad comments and real grief when she hugged Mahalia at the end of one of their duets. Dinah adored Mahalia and helped her to get her own tv series. She continued to present her on her show and show her affection for this great singer.

She did and was reprimanded. Dinah caught a lot of flack for that but in later years they did I noticed.

Why does it matter ? They were there to sing a duet , not touch each other.

Most people don't realize that although a Southerner, Dinah Shore was Jewish.
