@JudahCub19815 жыл бұрын
Anthony Yarrell If you read your Bible... GOD punishes all people for idolatry until they learn the error of their ways. You may not want to hear it but our ancestors were idolatrous and some of them still practiced the old religions when they came to the Western Hemisphere and wherever the old religious practices have remained rampant are the communities and countries that experience the worst poverty and extreme conditions until today - New Orleans, Mississippi, Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti and the Dominican Republic, you name it. I am not saying this as an outsider. I am saying this as a Caribbean man who is 98.3% genetically subsaharan African. The GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob DETESTS idolatry, witchcraft and the like. There is absolutely no polytheistic or pagan nation or empire in the History of mankind that has ever withstood GOD ALMIGHTY’s judgement it isn’t just Black folks that have tasted of this. All the empires of man that worshipped idols of some kind all faced the same or similar types of judgements throughout the centuries. The same judgements are coming for those countries that are in power now that do not honor GOD today. Wait and see...it’s just a matter of time. Selah...

In 60 years we’ve lost so much as a people. - The loss of families made up of husbands wives and children, with a man as head and protector of the household - The normalisation of baby mamas where young women have multiple children for multiples of different inadequate men, all out of wedlock. -The vulgarisation of modern music culture, and - prolific sexual promiscuity where a generation of women, encouraged by the weakness of men, behave like women of the street But most of all what we have lost in 60 years has been SOUL. The “soul” so evident and vibrant in the voice of Mahalia Jackson and those present in the hall with her that night in Chicago. Even now, these many years later you can feel that the spirit of the ancestors were amongst them that night.

For those who don’t know: the battle of Jericho in the Bible was a battle won through NON VIOLENCE! God told Joshua to MARCH around the walls and it’s was their faith and obedience that made the walls come tumbling down. How allegorical. What parallels. God blessed Mahalia and Dr. King to understand this is a reference to their own struggle and used the metaphor to both uplift Dr king and the rest of the movement that night!!

this is so heavy!! transcends time.... let's not let these sacrifices go in vain. Never forget.
That's the happiest I've ever seen Dr. King. I've never seen him smile so freely, and openly. #RIPMahaliaJackson #RIPDrKing

Wow. I can only humbly agree with so many opinions expressed on this page! Mahalia Jackson, for me, represents a great spirit in this world as did Dr. King. I think she did not take the mic because she wanted, in that moment, not to be a lead singer but part of the people who lifted their voices for Dr. King that night. She used her strong voice to lead the people while standing with the people. Where have all these people gone? Everyone today craves their 15 minutes of fame like a drug. They represent people with shruken spirits who can never lead anyone because no real love fills their hearts--only the desire for fame and money. I think Rev. King had such joy in his eyes--without a trace of impatience--because he saw the union or united spirit of these good people in that church that night. I hope he also realized, in that moment, that his movement, based on nonviolence, would triumph and the walls of Jericho, indeed, would come tumblin' down.

Dr. Martin Luther King LOVED him some Mahalia Jackson! Blessing and blushing all over his face with her strong gospel voice. Mahalia' s voice even gave me tingles listening to her. My grandma Viola (RIH) used to love her some Mahalia Jackson, her favorite song was "Move On Up A Little Higher"....

Such a powerful moment and her voice is amazing! If you notice at the beginning someone gave her a mic and she simply held it in her hand and sang over the crowd. Her voice so powerful, majestic, and commanding!

Happy Martin Luther King day! He didn’t smile very much in other videos I’ve seen of him so this one is my favorite. Also miss Mahalia Jackson is a treasure.
