loved the series Dina and the different stories. I would really love for you to continue it as a regular series. As a Somali muslim, and a black muslim woman i wish you had more black muslim women in the series. If you were to continue the series just be more inclusive of all different kinds of muslim women. All in all i loved the series and appreciated you doing it, couldn't imagine anyone else doing it.

I loved the whole concept behind the series. You presented it really well and showed how passionate you are about the subject. You and Sid have both done so much to highlight ‘the plight of the modern Muslim’ . Definitely want to see you presenting more! Well done lovely, be super proud of yourself of how much you have achieved. Really enjoyed this interview style...you two should be the next Holly and Phil hehe x

So true what you were saying about mental health... Habiba recently opened up about her anxiety and everyone in her comment section was like .... Pray more this is because you are far from Allah.... Brah.... How do you even know? And how can you judge how much she prays and her walk and journey .... Please

Curly Proverbz That’s not how us muslims should be, and I apologise for those who said the comments; they should be supporting her instead of judging her, because in my opinion only God can judge

Never would have been able to meet such cool women from all the over world. Such a cool fitting title #YourAverageMuslim. And such a good work. Thank you so much Dina. Bill Ward hahaha don't know why this is so funny. Oh yeah she looks like that? Good for you. She doesn't to whole lot of a 'sensible' population not to some brainwashed orthodox narrow-minded atheist. And yeah? Muhammad was like that? Saturday nights? Haha I'm sure you were there enjoying it before you were brainwashed by maniac historians. Kiddos to you. Hope you find truth some day. And hope you learn to be more accepting than hating because you were taught to! Quran? Again I'll say may you find truth and learn how to accept diversity. :)

The mental health thing is soo true. Literally many Muslims of the older generation believe that depression and anxiety can just be "prayed away" when they are severe illnesses that need medical attention and care. You wouldn't see someone bleeding and be like: "Just pray bro "

Really enjoyed this documentary. The women were truly inspiring. The Sofia episode touched me particularly as I have a family member in prison (for something this person didn’t do - long, twisted story 😔) and we do forget those incarcerated. Please continue this new venture in sharing what Muslim women are doing around the globe. I was discussing this recently that there are sooo many women outside of Instagram who don’t have thousands of followers or a verified page and they’re doing amazing things. We forget there’s a world outside of social media. You changed my perspective on breaking stereotype. You’re absolutely right. How long are we going to work on breaking this stereotype that the west has created and keep trying to prove ourselves. Thank you for utilizing your platform for inspiring young girls and oldies (me). This is different, refreshing and empowering. ❤️

I’m not a family member but I feel so proud like you are my little sister and I’m watching you grow year after year from becoming a mother and wife to now an ambassador to Muslim women! I hope everyone shares this and it gets better and better. Again so proud of you! Xox

As a girl born and raised in the ME and a Muslim, When I tell my "European" friends, " oh I don't think I'm ready to get married yet... Oh I want to be independent first" they are like .. " AMAZING! That's VERY EUROPEAN ! your thoughts!!!" and I'm like .... Who ever said these things were even an "European" thing? .. when the world is WAY bigger than Europe?... Why can't my ideas or thoughts be about me? why do they "imagine" me doing that is breaking the rules.. when to me it's just ... normal .. to have such a choice?.. #YourAverageMuslim

Everytime i talk to my friends and family about having a bad mental health or anxiety problems they ask me "well, what was the last time you prayered? See exactly! Just pray and you'll get the peace you are looking for" indeed i pray i spend hours on the matt but sometimes it doesn't help so i ask them well now what I'm prayering? "Well did you pray with the right niyyat, you lack faith thats why it ain't helping" which increase my anxiety and depression even more thinking that i am a 'bad muslim' and Allah (swt) has gave up on me.

I AM SO HAPPY to hear that someone notices the lack of respect there is for mental health practice in the Muslim community. I went to Egypt last year and for about a month and felt so anxious the entire time with all Al-sisi's Authoritative approach to handling the Egypt. I felt as though any moment a tank could fire my way and for something as tiny as taking a photo of it. The community of egyptians that have been tormented by Sisi are suffering so much and I noticed that they have developed defense mechanisms that while helpful at the moment, hopefully when Sisi's power diminishes their defense mechanisms will not be healthy. I have thought for a while that perhaps working with established egyptians in egypt to make mental health cool and or normal would be a great way to remedy Sisi's torment on the egyptian people. I am curious about your thoughts, though understand if you don't want to get involved in egyptian politics.

So true about mental health in the muslim community!! I know some people who are devoted muslims yet still suffer from mental health issues like anxiety. I believe prayer may help to not make it so severe, but it doesn't cure it. You'd still need professional help along side spirituality. I also think that the negative image of muslims doesn't make it any easier for muslim women especially those who wear hijab. Almost all the hijabis I know are scared and anxious when they go out. That alongside your personal issues is just such a big burden and can really weigh you down.

As someone who suffers from anxiety praying 5 times a day isn’t necessarily a cure I would say it helps calm you down in the moment . Prayer always makes you feel peaceful but it isn’t the cure to mental health . People often always forget that God can answer your prayers and anything is possible with having faith in God. God has the power to cure our mental health .

I hope that there are more episodes! The discussion in the first episode is what caught me. You and Tsui (sp?) were saying the same things that my female friends and I have been saying all of our lives (and I’m 52). It’s kind of boring that we’re still having this conversation. To be fair, it seems like both of your husbands, your Father, and brothers, are super enlightened men... but they are men. Lol. The lens you’re given determines your perception. There was a time in history that required men to take care of, or be superior to, women but that time has long since past. Women of all faiths have evolved because we had to...it’s time for our men to catch up.

Could not agree more, honestly so sick of having to 'prove we're normal' or 'prove' anything it's ridiculous. Just let us be ourselves without having this pressure on our back regarding 'representing' a minority - it doesn't always have to be we're doing it for Islam more so for ourselves... We just happen to be Muslim too.
