Joe gave his echo box to Hank Marvin because he couldn't get on with it. Glad he did. Joe is such a modest man and one of the true greats.

Yep Joe's an underrated musician.... but what sets him apart is his compassion, personality and humour. The sort of chap you wish was your friend! An absence of ego, which sets him apart from many musicians....

Saw Joe supporting Chas 'n' Dave in the early 90's at Skeg-Vegas (Skegness) He was great! I remember him before The Beatles. I'm of the understanding he used to see a doctor who lived across the road from me.

Joe's guitar is an ES 341 Gibson Stereo. It's basically an ES 335 but along with the four Volume and tone controls there is a selector switch which gives various stereo combinations. Yes Joe did start his Live Album taking a leak. I still have a copy. I saw him live last night in Potters Bar. Still sounds great.

The most ridiculous thing to say , is that this man is an underrated guitarist . Like every other posting about musicians , when someone says , a particular player is underrated , it’s simply not true . You have to take into account , the amount of professional session players who admire him as a musician , and as a man . The big name stars he has played with .The thousands upon thousands of fans who have watched him on Tv , and flocked to see his sold out tours , which have done the circuit for years . The decline of your fame in the publics eye , doesn’t equate to being looked down upon , dismissed or passed by . It’s simply that the man came from a different era . So he’s not fashionable to kids . When you factor all these things into the summing up of his status in the world of popular music , you’ll find he’s a very long way from being under rated .

There 's also a fine clip of Joe Brown at The New Musical Express Poll winners Concert from 1964, doing 3 completely different tunes on KZbin. If only the mainstream acts were into being as eclectic these days. The independent ones are.

Joe Brown, singing "Samantha", is NOT "bloody horrible" as Joe said. It is good. If he put that on a CD or iTunes it could sell pretty well (with the proper advertising promotion).

I don't know when this was filmed but ... doesn't he look good, he's definately well preserved, wonder what his secret is!! Also ... on the B-side of one of his records is a track called Sicilian Tarrantella, it is just an instrumental, he played it at a concert I went to see, and part of it was played with the guitar on the back of his neck, it was amazing .... does anyone out there have a video of him doing that? if so please post it on KZbin !!!

He's very well known and respected in Nashville and Memphis. He's played with some of the greatest names in music history. But he's probably best known to American music fans as the guy who played loads of shows with Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent on their ill fated tour of England in 1960.Apparently Joe and Eddie hit it off well.

Joe always comes across as a really decent guy and is swift to praise others. However, I read an interview with Sam Brown once and she hintd that he has a darker side to his personality. All said though, what a musically talented family he headed.
