I grew up on Long Island where late night diner culture is rampant. The diner depicted in this scene was spot on. You hear the clicking sound of dishes in the background. The entrance to the kitchen with customers sitting on the long table was so realistic.

My sister couldn't understand why I love watching independent movies. This one, Pulp Fiction, Fargo, & Boogie Nights, they don't hold a candle sometimes to the big budget movies ot today. However, none of them could say they became big stars. They did a reunion with Daniel Stern, Kevin Bacon, Steve Guttenberg, and Tim Daly but not with Mickey Rourke. Paul Reiser also Co Wrote Michael McDonald's Biography.

Diner is a movie that gets it right. This is how guys and their buddies grow up. Talking BS in our favorite greasy spoon, getting mad over a sandwich and cruising the night away with the car top down. God, how I miss those days.

Movies have changed a lot. Idris Elba made a comment on his hot wings episode that movies have changed since reality tv took a lot of the people looking for emotional engagement with what we watch. "All is true", the Shakespeare movie was a standout.

I think that one time or another we've been in situations where someone has "leeched" off of us and they don't think they are doing anything wrong. I once yelled at My Cousin or doing that going so far as to say "If you ain't got no money keep your broke @ss home!" She never did it with anyone else, just me, and I got very angry about it, and then I was made to feel that I was the bad guy. She was so bad at money management that's why she was always broke. Because I was so generous in the past, they were surprised that I said "No!" and not feel guilty. As for the Fries & Gravy it was a classic with the Old School Degrassi. When I read the book about Shane McKay's Character, he would play Basketball with Snake, Luke, & BLT. They would go for Fries & Gravy but they would never invite him.

That was actually Billy's (the guy back from college, played by Timothy Daly) threat to the annoying guy in the jail (where they all ended up after Fenwick ran amok in the creche). When I first saw this movie, that line had me laughing my ass off. You may be thinking of the scene where Boogie knocks down Tank, and Fenwick says, "smile of the week!" (or some such thing) At least I haven't seen this movie as many times as "Methan" saw "The Sweet Smell of Success." (I don't have every line memorized.)

Erik Derek - Your "millennial sensibility"? You lack sensibility if you can't figure out why this is a funny movie. I suppose you don't hang out with friends and have goofy conversations and look for stuff to do because you're bored. This is what this movie is all about. Some people appreciate comedy that does not come out and beat you over the head (metaphorically speaking). You probably think the same way about The Big Lebowski, which is possibly the funniest movie ever made. Tell me you understand why people like The Big Lebowski, and I will be assured that there is still hope for you.
