Indeed, when he asked to come up with a plan the thing that came to my mind was to trade dark square bishops so that I can exploit the dark square weaknesses on the king side. Giving away the central pawn and breaking everything open didn't come to my mind. I'd say the reason for that would be my conception that when attacking, the centre should be closed so the opponent doesn't get counterplay and has a hard time mobilising pieces to better defend himself. Btw I'm a 2100 lichess player. I hope someone strong would address this train of thought and when to ignore it as such! Ty in advance!

Hey Jerry, I’ve been watching and enjoying for close to a decade. I really appreciate your work. I know I’m oversimplifying this, but I really appreciated this breakdown and felt it gave me strategic clarity; in the opening he protected his king and didn’t drop any pawn, and in the middle and end game he pushed his pawns and then opened up the position after he recognized a better king position. That’s a basic strategy to imitate.

Many critics have questioned Ding Liren’s abilities in defending his World Chess title in classical chess. He is ready. Jerry always like your presentations. Look forward to seeing the next one.

He's looking much better in the Rapid Team Championship than any time since the last World Championship match, but that doesn't necessarily translate to classical.

Thank you jerry for the black background. Since i mostly watch your videos in a pitch black room… Always wanted to request the black backdrop but looks like you thought of everything! P.s would you be willing to include the elo of the players again? I miss seeing them in your older videos 🙏

Certainly haven’t thought of everything, but glad the background sits well with you. 👍 Will see about the ratings. I could have at least voiced their rapid ratings with this one where there was a large gap. For the record… Ding Liren 2775 Aslan Aitbayev 2386

Black forgot to play cxd4 before playing Be7. It's known that dxc5 is a little bit better for white.
@MoonBurn136 ай бұрын
I'll admit I don't think I would have done better against the World Champion(!) That said, why on earth did Black allow White to get the infamous Thorn Pawn established!? (That too said, I have no defense in my "repertoire" against an early P-KR4 by White!) Also, I'm still baffled by why Black didn't, around move ...17 cover the vacated d5 square with 17...BB3? Finally: I wondered why around move ...21 Black never considered RxP. And isn't NN3 considered a poor square for the Knight generally? Again, I'm a wood pusher and a glacially slow mover ontop of it, so I somehow doubt I'd have done better than a GrandMaster! Still, it seemed unwise for Black to cramp his pieces beyond even what the French Advance forces. Thanx Jerry. In my case, the "thing I took away" is the early PKR4 by White in the French. Startling!
@bpro58486 ай бұрын
What did NN3 mean?
@MoonBurn136 ай бұрын
@@bpro5848 The Knight, generally, is held to be on an inferior square, when placed early on g3, b3, b6, or as in this case, g6.
