This is lovely! I always had a soft spot for these Briggs cabbed Comets and Dinky did a lovely job in recreating them. A super restoration, too.

Before your excellent restoration this Leyland Comet had such an honest patina of many years of play that I felt it had a certain charm in its own right. This is just an observation and not a criticism. If I choose to save some old Dinkies in original condition and restore some other ones then that is down to me. Whilst in this frame of mind I wonder how many restored toys are returned to the hands of children for further adventures and how many toys spend the rest of their days behind glass in display cabinets. I'm not saying that one is preferable to the other, just idly musing. Your rejuvenated Comet is a testament to the durability of these fine toys.
