You gotta try the food delivery culture while you're there. It's fantastic, and there's an app. I was there and you basically don't need to go to a restaurant or a hawker place. I think they even have youtubers that review delivery food. They deliver any kind of food at whatever restaurant, from fancy to hawker.

No. It's not that common (especially from the same App that can do EVERYTHING), at least in many different states. We definitely don't have the motorcycle taxi. We also don't have hawker food place. Not every Pizza Hut is a restaurant. We have plenty of takeaways and drive-thrus. We have to go to the store to pick up our prescription at Walgreens by ourselves or go to a salon instead of having a hairdresser come to you. The best delivery culture is in Asia, like Korea and China. I guess now in Southeast Asia. But Europe, Australia, NZ, and the USA? Not so much. They exist, but not as popular as in Asia for some reason.

I remember when McDonald's start selling rice and fried Chicken like KFC in early 2000, and the Canadian tourist that comes to Indonesia who came to McD start taking picture (remember this is early 2000 where people don't take a selfie or picture like today) looking like they never seen rice before 😂 . I get it. Who served rice and chicken on a famous hamburger restaurant, right? 😁 .. That was what I said in early 2000, untill Japanese start making rice burger 😁

I always remember Mos burger having rice burger during the 90s while I'm in Japan and Malaysia. Now the closest I can go for Mos is Singapore. Malaysia's KFC has rice for a while now. Mcd tried it a few times latest being nasi lemak. Now Burger King is also in the same game.

Well the MacDonalds in Pekanbaru went bankrupt back in early 2000s because they didn't serve rice, only burgers and (probably fried chicken). They have now reopened and sell rice :)

If you craving some food at night in Jakarta or any other big cities in Indonesia, you can download "Gojek" or "Grab". They have option for food deliveries. You can choose the menu and the driver will deliver it to your location. But sometimes not a lot of food vendor on Gojek or Grab open 24hours.

U have to try the tradition snack cake ( kue basah) in traditional markets,i recommend steamed taro cake,getuk ( mashed steamed cassava with palm sugar),lupis (steamed pandan sticky rice serve with salted grated coconut and palm sugar syrup), kue teochew ( salted rice cake with salted crushed peanuts filling)

I'll never eat at an Indonesian McDonald's again, but keep up the awesome videos. When I was in Indonesia, me and a friend went into a McDonald's and saw some nasty food environment conditions. Sink to wash hands was outside the bathroom in the dining area, employees didn't wash hands, the grease the food was fried in seemed like it hadn't been changed in weeks. The locals were loving the food but in all honesty it was one of the nastiest places I've ever been to for food.

I have tried Indomie Mi Goreng, sate padang and babi panggang when I went to Indonesia. I have stayed with a family of Batak Toba people near Siantar, North Sumatra, and the food was sooooooo good! The Batak people are mostly Christians, so pork is quite common there, and I have also tried saksang and babi pangang, both are pork. Sate Padang is actually one of my favourites! :D

Btw if you love our sambal sauces, you can actually buy it in bottles and you can bring it back to US with you, but don't but the ones in supermarket or convenience store.
