It’s so satisfying going through the pantry, fridge and freezer and cleaning them out, using everything up and then going grocery shopping with a clean slate. When I have fresh onions and peppers going bad I chop them up and freeze them in freezer bags and use them for crockpot dinners, soups and stews throughout the Winter. I tend to over buy onions during the summer months when I can get them locally grown, they’re so good. I have a beef masher from $ tree and one from Pampered Chef. I absolutely love the $ tree one so much better than the 4 times the price PC one. Get you one, you will love it. 🫶🏻

Good for you! Your meals looked great and you did it! I absolutely hate wasting food, I'm always trying to come up with ideas to use what I have. I made a booklet of our favorite tried and true crockpot meals! Keep it going, great job! I hope Maggie has a speedy and full recovery. 🙏

I especially like your idea of jotting down everything you have in the freezer and in the pantry and frig and then working with what you have. I also struggle with having many kinds of food and having a hard time trying to figure out what to do with everything! Thank you for all your ideas!

Cooking dinner is the bane of my existence. Once I have the meat part figured out I breathe a big sigh of relief as the sides are easy enough. Thankfully my husband is not a picky eater and will chow down whatever I put in front of him. The struggle is real and good job on the dinner ideas.

I am the meal planner in my household and you are right, it is so hard everyday to figure out dinner. We’re bad about getting takeout like half of the week because of this.. Also, my husband is the same way about food. Meat, bread and cheese is about it. Meanwhile I want all the vegetables!! 😂 And definitely get the meat smasher tool, game changer!

We all should go thru our freezers/pantries. I have been trying to do but only two of us so eat on the things for awhile🤪 I sometimes freeze leftovers but have to admit end up not eating later many times. I went thru freezer and pantry and sadly things had to go because expired. Need to be more aware. I hope Maggie is well, I know how it is with the fur babies .

A big hint for your nachos, get out two pounds of ground beef, cook it in your crockpot with the onion and garlic and jalapeno, when the beef is cooked add your seasonings and beans. Now, divide the beef mixture half freeze half, and you have another meal for no more mess. You can do this with any protien. Also, at the beginning of the week take out all your meat for the week and put in the fridge, then you can make that the base for what you are going to cook each day. Your salad looks amazing!! So glad Maggie is doing better.

I was buying meat when it would be on sale even tho I had roast and chops etc. already in the freezer. When I started seeing pkgs. dated 2021, 2022 I decided it was time to quit buying meat until I'd used the old up. I haven't bought meat other than hamb. for mos.. I live alone so I can stretch a roast out to 5-6 meals. The problem with being the chief cook is that we get tired of our own cooking, Those new recipes come in handy. I make extra casserole portions or chili and freeze and when I don't want to cook I pull one out of the freezer. Add a dessert and/ or salad and whala! Problem solved. 😊 I love that Old ElPaso taco seasoning. I make taco burgers with it.

I have a dollar tree meat masher and it works GREAT! Why pay 10.00 when you can buy 1 for 1.25? Plus, if it breaks, just buy another one... nachos look yummo
@robinalexander84292 ай бұрын
dollar tree mashers work great and why pay 10 or more for 1 at walmart when you can buy a few for 10.00? Grl, I know what you mean about preparing and planning meals, we eat out very little maybe 6 or 8 times a year if that! But after being married over 44 years when my husband asks "what is for dinner?" My go answers are "I don't know" or "haven't got a clue!" It is just SO redundant!!! lol... we just have a charcoal grill, so it is more of a pain than anything... I want to get a gas grill... so we shall see!

so glad Maggie is doing well- iy must have been so scary. Great meal ideas-have you considered meal planning for the week? You spend some time up front thinking about what ot eat but then you can forget about that for the rest of the week. I'm a long time homemaker and found that worked in all seasons of my life. Good luck!

I'm guilty of not cking the pantry..i either end up with multiples of things or totally out of something🫣 I pretty much know what's in or not in the freezer! When the freezer is pretty much empty is basically when i go do a larger haul, otherwise i just grab bits & pieces in between... like the produce. When i go buy all my meats & things like milk, cereal, or staple things, i try to look at each pack of meat & decide what I'll be cooking with it & pick those things up. Then of course I'll add extra sides to the cart. That seems to best for me. You sound like me..i hate the cost of groceries but hate the cost of take out even more😐 The steak looked yummy😋 I'm planning a little taco bar tonight with black beans & Mexican rice for the sides. Husband & son like the soft tortilla shells. My DIL & myself will use tortilla chips & make a taco salad. I've been craving homemade tacos for a couple weeks!🌮 I think corn & Mac n cheese are the most eaten sides here! I did some Italian chicken with fresh corn on the cob & homemade creamed potatoes last night.. my hubby & son will devour lbs of homemade creamed potatoes😳 First fresh corn on the cob this year! Mac! cheese is on tomorrow nights menu with tenderloin chops & Lima beans. Then... who knows🤷♀️ I love my DIL's homemade cheese ravioli with spinach..omg it's amazing! But she works Alot, i don't..so i do most of the cooking. I've heard of a crock pot chicken pot pie, & heard it was yummy! I'll have to ck that one out! I like the can Veg-All for soups & recipes that call for mixed veggies & maybe ad some extra can veggies. I have started using the base instead of cubes too. We eat more chicken than any other meat! If you guys like the KFC bowls, that's a good quick & filling meal. Throw some nuggets in the air fryer, cut them up in chunks in a bowl..i usually eat about 4, the guys will eat 6 or 8.. put in corn, mashed potatoes, brown gravy & shredded cheese. I see the bag Idaho potatoes for this. Its really good! We always add hot sauce, like Texas Pete on ours😋 Another great chicken crock pot recipe, smothered chicken..i use thighs but you can use the breast or whatever you want.. Throw it in with a couple cans of cream of chicken & a couple can of cream of celery & let it cook til done.. Its amazing over rice, can't be more simple😄 I think all kids love Mac n cheese! My grandson is VERY picky, he don't eat meat, maybe a nugget once in awhile.. he could eat Mac n cheese 3 meals a day! Miss Claire is enjoying it😄 When will she be 1? I know its real soon! Same girl..i want all the things on my nachos! My husband is meat & cheese with a little lettuce, my son is the same but he does the sour cream & he'll do avacado if we have them. But they like soft shells & i like the chips! I'll be making that tonight like I said earlier. And yes.. gotta use the Old El Paso!! Lol i don't ask, i cook & they eat.. unless they request something ahead of time. We've def been on the same page Girl! We're having breakfast for dinner Friday night!😄 We're southerns, we love grits! So we'll have bacon, sausage links, eggs, grits & croissants! We like adding shredded cheese in the grits for cheesy grits😋 We have cinnamon French toast sticks in the freezer, I'm sure the kids will want a couple of those too. Never tried eggs in the oven.. We like them over medium & my husband is a pro at those. And I love crispy bacon! Oh my.. so sorry about Maggie got sick on you guys! I know you guys were stressed after going thru what happened with Bryce! Prayers she is well & no more issues!🙏🏻 Yummm peach cobbler or crumble & ice cream is so good, yours looked delish! Enjoyed sharing recipes! Have a blessed week😊
