Are there really people saying that? Every cat does this to some extent be it standing right besides you while you eat and sometimes hitting you with their paws, to cats jumping on the table and trying to grab a bite from your plate. They just want to eat the same thing as their hoomans.

My late kitty girl was _relentless_ at dinner, she'd position herself right next to me and get this hard sort of look on her face and just STARE intensely at my plate and fork until I was done and she could lick the plate. :) I miss you so much, little darling.

I had a Norwegian Forest Cat, cat of the Vikings, the most violent small cat breed. She always eats first and I get what's left. Unless it was those magnum ice creams, then I could take a bite first to remove the chocolate coating so she could get at the cream underneath.

Always feed them before dinner or give them treat before you start eating. My two cats don't hound me while I am eating because they are already full from their dinner/lunch/bf and treats.Minnie is a queen though and deserves her own little dining table with gourmet tuna.

I had a cat that would time his jumps when my mom wasn’t looking and jump on the counter, steal food while it was being prepared all before my Mom could shoo him away. I let my cat do anything he wants. Granted, he’s not a “foodie” (except for fresh tuna), so he’s not interested in my food. I give him any food he wants - as long as it’s OK for cats. If my kitty was interested in my food, and the food was OK for cats, he would have that on his menu. I’m glad you let Minnie on the table though! Good for you! My “cat rules” are few and simple: he can do anything he wants as long as it’s safe for him and me. For example: he knows he shouldn’t bite and scratch me - and he doesn’t (any more). He was an eight year old stray when I adopted him, and it took him a while to learn not to bite and scratch me.
