Dinnertime in the Mountains

It was a dreary, rainy day here in the mountains. We had strong winds and heavy rain all day, and we even briefly lost power. As soon as the power came on , I quickly made dinner, not knowing if we'd lose power again. I made Bacon & Onion Smothered Porkchops as well as Parmesan Crusted Red Potatoes. Hope to see you there.

Yea, great spices. The only thing that might make that gravy better would be fire roasted chopped green chilis. Here in Texas we are just getting the Hatch green chilis in from New Mexico. But if you don't have them the ones at Wal Mart will work, just small cans!

When cooking meat coated with flour it should only be turned once. Turning it more causes the flour crust to fall off.

Girl after Hurricane Beryl my neighborhood was one of the last to have power restored and the temperatures were so high at least 23 people died across Texas from the heat. It’s almost October and it’s still in the 90’s here in Kingwood. I’m so ready for cooler temperatures. I’m glad you guys are safe and warm. Hugs for all the fur faces.

I also love sprinkling various spices on mine.I found a really good one recently,it's Surpreme Tradition garlic pepper.My family never mixed veggies as there was always someone that would fuss.I know some like to mix carrots with peas.That gravy looks divine and would be just as good on top of a bed of rice or mashed potatoes.

Some still don’t have power back on. Waycross Georgia says they wont have power back till around the 5th of October. I have family in the area!!! We here in north Georgia we were lucky without power for a couple hours. So we were lucky also.

The meal looks delicious. It always does. I hope you guys got through the hurricane alright. We did where I live in Florida. But Southern Florida and the Panhandle here was tore up pretty bad. South Carolina had 1.2 million people without power. Tennessee and Georgia both got massive flooding. Both had and still has almost a million people still without power. And we have another one coming this coming up weekend that looks like it is headed for us maybe in North Florida. I’m asking for prayers for everyone that was affected and anyone who reads this that wasn’t please donate. I honestly don’t know how many hurricanes Florida can keep on withstanding. Great job Val!! U can't even do that grave with chicken, roast. U can freeze the grave and use it to smother ur meats or rice , potato. Use zip loc bags!!

I have made this pork dish by just browning my chops and adding onions and bacon mix gravy into my cook pot cook for about 8 on low or 4 on hight they come out tender and not dry at all.

Can someone please tell me why Americans cut their meat with the right hand then put the fork in the right hand to put it in their mouth.If the fork is already in the left hand why not use it to convey the food to the mouth.I've only seen this done in US,nowhere else.

People in Mexico and across most Latin America eat that way as well. Prior to the adoption of the fork, the custom in Europe was for all food to be conveyed to the mouth by the right hand (using a spoon, a knife, or fingers). When the fork was adopted, it followed this rule; it was held in the left hand while cutting and then transferred to the right to eat.

Hey 👋 Valerie ,Tim,Granny,and Fam.I have friends in Tappahannock..they had lotsa rain but are okay.We are in Ponce Inlet, Florida .minimal flooding and few big branches down.We are so blessed as my hubby is bed bound so trying to get out to a special needs shelter via medical transport would be difficult to orchestrate & upsetting to him and his baby aka service dog.Our daughter in Tampa got stuck at work for a triple shift..Our Grandbaby enjoying time with her Daddy.They have no power so they watched the lake rise ..didnt get to the house🙏,while snakes and gators tried to claim squatters rights to the boat dock and back porch. Sending out prayers and positive affirmations for all who were effected by Helene especially Tennessee, South & North Carolina 🙏 ❤...You and Tim are giving your fixer upper new life by doing all things with love...epecially toting 15 load of laundry into town each week with growing boys😱...You and Tim are real troupers.My boys were about 4 and 2 yrs when my washer died 3rd week in of washing clothes and boys in the tub together they were the aggitation action by week 3... I cried for my Daddy and he got it fixed😂 Anyways your videos are like home movies and postcards from home.Im so happy your family is building a dream❤
