Bambi being a gremlin!!😉 I love little fur babies. They can make you happy just with their high jinks.💕💖💕 In West Virginia we are some what limited. Except for the kangaroo that broke free! Made the evening news. About 33 years ago a pet shop tried to sale a Cayman. Every time you you walked by he hissed. I didn't know the legalities of having them in pet shops. He was huge.

I am chuffed to bits to see Dino coming into his own and feeling well enough to not only explore his surroundings a bit, but to associate Chris with his food source and come on over when called. It was one of those rare moments that is so touching words are inadequate. As for parrots.. I've kept parrots in the past - all rescued. While part of me always wanted to have a cockatoo, those birds are not house pets and nearly all owners I've encountered, have had major issues with their 'Toos, and it's the same for many other species of parrot, too. I can only urge people to never purchase one, they are only lining the pockets of breeders, many of whom care not a thing about the wellbeing of their birds, and it just adds to the birds' misery when they have been bought by clueless owners who then struggle to meet all their needs. Back in the early 90s, I walked past a pet shop, I walked in to have a looksee and was horrified to see them selling small mammals/reptiles and birds. The tiny kittens had been removed from their birth mother prior to the store opening, so that they could display those cute kittens in the hope of securing a sale.. same with the puppies. As for the birds. My god, it was horrific. I could hear birds screaming from behind a private door. In one cage, on display, was what appeared to be a very old cockatiel who had been bred to such a degree she was chronically malnourished, her bone structure deformed due to lack of calcium caused by overbreeding/underfeeding her a correct diet. Not only that, her wings had been clipped right down by someone who clearly just didn't care about their birds. She was on the floor of her cage, in a corner, head down and waiting to die. I'm tearing up recalling it. I had that pet store shut down that day, animal activists notified, and I left with that tiel. I wanted her final moments to be in the hands of someone who cared about her. Well, when I took her straight to the vets who examined her, wanted to put her to sleep as they said she was suffering to such an extent she wouldn't live more than a few days anyway. I refused. I took her home and introduced her to my other rescued tiels who had fresh fruits, nuts, greens, and appropriate branches in their cage and this darling tiel did a complete 180. She not only perked up, I took her over to the cage while my other tiels looked on curiously, and this tiel went right into the cage and was maniacally going from fruit to fruit, green to green, seed to seed nibbling away, having a drink of fresh water which had vitamins in, and she started manoeuvring her wings. I gave her a much needed bath which she loved and it was instant love with my other tiels, too. Every day she gained strength and would exercise her wings, walking around more and more - they were only ever confined to their cage at night. She flourished. And while she was still deformed, her bones had gained strength, she put on weight and she started trying to fly. I padded the ground with lots of cushions/towels, and one day, she did indeed fly a short distance. I was a sobbing mess. She FLEW! She lived a total of 17 months before her death, she died peacefully in her sleep. so, please, I implore those who may perhaps read this. Don't ever buy animals from a pet store no matter how cute/cuddly and strong the urge is.
@erlandaislund45944 ай бұрын
When i buy cat food i only go to stores, that don't sell living animals. I know seeing the animals in stores beeing held in horrible conditions, will make me want to buy all of them (and i think, that could even be a markrting steategie in some stores). But i know, they will just replace the animal i try to rescue with another one and my wish to help will just fuel the market. So i am verry happy, that we HAVE stores without animals.
@Herbie-Went-Bananas-Then-Split4 ай бұрын
@@erlandaislund4594 I hope to see, in the near future, that it becomes illegal to sell live animals in pet stores. I'm now in my early 60s, have had so many fur/feathered additions to the family throughout my life, all have been rescued, with many having severe behavioural issues due to the treatment/living conditions they'd been subjected to, and they have brought me such joy to see them living their best years. What has amazed me is just how quick vets were to euthanise them when I first rescued an animal, yet those animals went on to live long, relatively healthy lives thereafter once they'd pulled through. I now have three Tuxedos who have me howling with laughter every day with their antics. Their three favourite words? "Are you hungry?" Cue stampede Hah!

Watching him take that big drumstick with such enthusiasm!! You never gave up once! I bet others would have being he just looked like he was going to die. But you NEVER GAVE UP !! And look at him now! YOUR happiness is contagious! That just gave me chills!! Look at him chewing with enthusiasm!😊 It's a miracle Cinderella story! I remember you saying SO MANY TIMES in the beginning gaff he was going to hate you because of all the intrusive things he needed done to save his life. I remember feeling bad for you because everything you were doing "to" him was really FOR him to stay alive. I would love to say, he does NOT hate you at all. He a gator and from what you NEVER FAIL to remind us that they have no feelings or emotions but...I think he's grateful and he's going this become another success story just like all if the other animals you've saved! Congratulations Chris and Gabby. You've reallym literally saved Dino's life. There is no way an animal as sick as he was, could have recovered with no intervention! Good job!❤

Chris, watching Dino swim up to you and then eat just brought tears to my eyes. I’m so happy for him and for you and Gabby. Clover and Bam were hilarious with their zoomies. They are adorable doggies. I’m so excited about the new alligator pond. It looks amazing already and it’s not even complete. But the area with the trees is so beautiful and peaceful. Most of us understand the alligators will from time to time fight with each other. They’re wild animals, it’s instinct. But we don’t worry because we know you’re very capable of handling any situation. This isn’t your first day on the job. 😉 I sure hope you don’t have any damage from the new hurricane. It’s supposed to head inland and make a path toward Knoxville, but that’s ok because we desperately need rain. I do worry about flooding and rockslides in the Smokies. You and Gabby take care of yourselves and enjoy your beautiful sanctuary. Hugs from Tennessee. 💕

The amount of male Gators you have in there aren't they more territorial than the females is it important??? The females are more territorial over the males than with space? I'm not there to see things I'm bringing up,,, cuz I'm not too sure about it and since both my eyesight and my hearing have been compromised by my TBI I'm not always catching what you say or what's across my screen. My bad my apologies. But that pond looks awesome the way you have it figured out and it's not just a big sinkhole typical it's more like the Louisiana bayou's kind of like although I've never been there so I can be completely wrong lol or the Georgia swamps. It's like a fantasy you are living that I always had I'm living literally my dream vicariously through you guys living your dream lol what I also want to say is I love your dogs! You can tell they are happy happy happy happy dogs the way they play the way they respond to the other animals the way they respond to you two. You guys are very considerate responsible pet owners and you practice good husbandry with all the animals. You are one of my favorite top favorite channels watch on KZbin I have to find you some more on Instagram and the other places it's just I don't use those as much so I don't visit your pages that much but I should.

In the cities in my State they require an application of lime once every 48 hours for pet enclosures or it's a health violation, I say that in that I haven't noticed you applying lime though you're not within 100ft of anything for those rules. I know you clean a lot but I did find the lime application rule for cites to be intense.
