@insaneedoko9992 жыл бұрын
I need to get them as I remember having this Styracosaurus which until years later I never knew was from D-R (Dino-Riders) and honestly I have this to say: WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A MOVIE OR AWESOME REBOOT LIKE MOST OTHER 80’S SHOWS HAD! I mean this show is on the Thundercats level of awesomeness. Haven’t seen the original, but seen the reboot of it which I remember being totally awesome and epic! Guess this 2000’s kid knows how to Harness the Dino-Power
@jamisonfrey34522 жыл бұрын
@@insaneedoko999 Hey that's pretty cool. It's nice to see that these types of things can still be appreciated by new audiences all these years later. I have the Styracosaurus too!! I don't have any of his armor theses days though. You can find a lot of the Dino-Riders toys on ebay. The dinosaurs themselves are fairly easy to come by, but finding them complete with all their accessories can sometimes prove to be a challenge. Also keep in mind that the harnesses and weapons are prone to breaking. That was an unfortunate setback of an otherwise incredibly fun line to collect. Oh and, I'm a big Thundercats fan as well!! I grew up with the original but I loved the 2011 reboot just as much if not a little more.

aye, even as young as I was, I could recall noting the plastic on a lot of the dinosaurs just seemed more brittle compared to what other toylines we're made with. That being said, the sculpts and paint detailing were extremely good quality, especially for their time. You could tell they really gave a shit about making very realistic dinosaurs. In fact I remember reading somewhere supposedly a lot of the Dino-Riders toy line sculpts have been used again over the years for educational toys
@jamisonfrey34522 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they were terribly brittle unfortunately and the plastic they used for the harnesses and dino weapons only got worse with age. I still have many of them, but the only one I have that is still intact is the Quetzalcoatlus with Youngstar figure.
@jamisonfrey34522 жыл бұрын
@@jasterthefathyena1843 The Dino-Riders Dinosaurs were indeed used as educational toys. There was a Smithsonian Dinosaur toy line that utilized many of the Dinosaurs from the Dino-Riders line. They were exactly the same as their Dino-Riders counterparts except they lacked the motorized walking feature many of the Dino-Riders had. They seem to be rare to come by now, but I did get the Smithsonian Triceratops when I was a kid. Tyco would get further use out of some of the Dino-Riders dinos in the 1990s when they were, once again, used for the 'Cadillacs and Dinosaurs' toy line.

I don't know, people tried lots of reboots and many have them failed, like He-Man Revelations, Ben 10: Omniverse, Thundercats (2011) ect ect. Plus, if you've ever watched todays Dinosaur shows, you'll see how the Dinosaurs look now, not as giant lizards, but as ugly bird-like mutants with feathers. Maybe for its own safety there should never be a reboot of Dino-Riders.

Maybe once the Jurassic World hype starts dying down. The Dino Riders IP is owned by Mattel, who also hold the license for Jurassic World toys. They wouldn't reboot one dinosaur series while the other is still profitable.
@pirateraider17082 жыл бұрын
Loved this franchise as a kid, and for years I believed it deserved a reboot. And now that I'm older and wiser, I can see where they messed up and how to fix it. For example; the toys were epic, but insanely expensive and broke way too easily. They should've left out the mechanical parts, made them out of soft & durable hollow plastic, melted the weapons & armour onto the dinosaurs, (except for a few moving parts,) and had them priced low. They could've been almost as popular as the Ninjas Turtles toy line.

I was in Kindergarten when this show and toyline came out. I still have a notebook of all my drawings of Dino-Riders I did at that age. There was something about the Tyrannosaurus Rex that fascinated me - the green top half of the head, the red eyes, the buzz saw leg armor, etc. I grew up in a middle class house and my parents never bought me anything over $20, so I only had the smaller sets, but I'm thinking about buying the Tyrannosaurus Rex set if I can find it complete. I already have a complete Tyrantisaurus from the MOTU line, so it'd look great side by side on the shelf.

dino riders had a movie in the works around 2013, Mattel the current rights holder was in talks with Sony pictures but with the announcement of jurassic world everything got halted because it's some sort of agreement in holly wood that you can't or shouldn't compete with the jurassic franchise, and now Mattel makes the jurassic toys after hasbro lost the rights for not wanting to give jurassic enough care and attention compared to there own and disney brands. so now dino riders is dead again until mattel stops making jurassic toys and people stop going to see jurassic movies.
