Thanks! I really think we got some of the best footage of an S&S 4D you'll ever see! The park was awesome and let us mount cameras all over the ride. I don't think I've ever seen someone film a straight on "POV" of the track either. While it's not a good representation of what the ride is, it makes for some pretty awesome footage! You can see what I mean at 4:46

It's actually VERY common that roller coasters are built by local contractors. There are not many projects where the designer of the ride also constructs the ride. And even when they do, they almost always hire local companies to assist them in the construction. I can tell you that S&S was very involved with the construction of this coaster.

Please omit the commentary. I won't pretend I'm not as excited on a coaster, but I think the point of a POV is to emulate the experience. The commentary is disruptive and generally is not necessary. For example, when going through a loop, there is no need to tell the viewer that we are going through a loop--we have eyes. Now, with that said, on rear-facing views and similar angles that show the riders' reactions, I would -saw- say a commentary is perfectly welcome. No offense intended. Just constructive criticism from a simple POV coaster viewer. Commentary or not, I do appreciate these professional quality videos and the opportunity to "visually" experience some great rides that I may never personally experience.
@joerichardwad164511 жыл бұрын
Turn your sound off you fragile little snowflake of a man. Who the hell are you to tell people how they should make THEIR OWN videos? It's not like they're paying you to watch. They're not even ASKING you to watch.

@TroyWindhorst11 жыл бұрын
mrlego611 Thanks for the info. I've probably seen a few CoasterForce videos. They have great videos as well as Theme Park Review .
@TroyWindhorst11 жыл бұрын
I want to comment not in a direct response to the name calling by Joe Richardwad , but as assurance that Theme Park Review is not nearly offended as he was. My comment is constructive criticism and nothing more. In addition, it is a personal opinion at best. I'm firm in my opinion that a POV video, especially on a coaster, is to emulate the experience. It's the next best thing to actually climbing aboard the train. Rumbles, roars, brakes, motors, wheels, screams, laughing, and hollering.... all these noises are expected and part of the experience. Maybe I'm the only one, but I would think that most coaster fans are imagining him or herself on the ride during a POV video. When I'm riding a coaster for real, I would not want a person in an adjacent seat narrating the ride--it would be distracting. A commentary is perfectly welcome, but I don't think it is a great thing during a POV segment. I don't produce these videos. Perhaps adding the commentary after the POV segment takes too much time or maybe it's too hard to do. Maybe there are reasons I don't know. But if it is an option, it is something for Theme Park Review to think about. It is likely that a measly 3% of my online comments (and reviews, etc.) over the last two decades have been negative in any way. Even when they are negative, I like to compliment and point good things. In my original comment, there is more than one compliment and I specifically pointed out that I was appreciative of the videos taking me to places that I may never visit. And that is true, I do appreciate the videos with or without the commentary. I will continue to watch and enjoy.

X2 was the first of these 4th dimension roller coasters whose seats spin 360 while you're riding and was built back in 2002. There's only 3 big 4D coasters (6 small ones) in the world -- X2 at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Los Angeles, Eejanaika at Fuji-Q Highland in Japan, and Dinoconda at Dinosaurs Park China. If you've been on one of these roller coasters you should consider yourself pretty lucky as there are only THREE in the whole world!

@@KrayzieCD Manufacturers often use the first installations of new models as prototypes, gaining real-world experience on what elements work and what needs to be revised in future versions. X was the first full-scale prototype after the proof of concept Arrow made in their warehouses, and boy, did it have problems. After Arrow went belly up, their assets were absorbed by S&S, which continued to refine the 4D concept, tweaking the basic formula to make the ride not only more reliable, but even more intense and aggressive. The Asian versions keep the same basic idea as X/X2 (because it's a kickass ride), but have little differences that improve on the formula.
