I LIKED Are 407, if its the film I'm thinkin of where they don't show the dinos, I thought it had a cool setup. Sure the ending was godawful but they tried to make it scary at least, and it was made in 5 days with no script and no money.

Fun fact: Carnosaur, the novel, came out before the book of Jurassic Park did. But the film however, was released at the same year as JP because the novel, that was suppose to be made because of the incoming Dinosaur craze in the 90's, came out later... thus receiving little attention

IIRC, there have been several books called Carnosaur that came out at various times over the years all the way back to the 80s.

I can't decide which I find more fascinating, the fact that somehow the movie basically turns into 'Alien' towards the end, or the fact that this movie is called 'Dinosaur from the Deep', despite the dinosaur NOT, in fact, coming from the deep.

So I was watching this with a friend when you started talking about how Jurassic Park kicked off a huge dinosaur craze and they asked me to pause it. Went on about a five minute rant about dinosaurs being really popular through the 80s into the 90s and cited several examples, including Dino Riders. They were clear that Jurassic Park absolutely boosted it, but that it was already kind of there. Then we hit play and saw the Dino Rider's t-rex toy immediately after. Cue both of us going "No..." at the same time

This is one of the most realistic plot I have seen in my life. I'm sirious. A bunch of guys just deciding "Fuck it, lets just go to the mesozoic for no reason at all" is highly likely. Its certainly what I would do.

Hey, there's Jean Rollin in this sh*t! He was a really special director, unique (a real classic in French cinema history). There's also Christophe Bier who's actually popular because of his roles in Bertrand Mandico's movies. There is another French dino movie (better this one), it's Richard J. Carnosaur was written and published in 1984, Jurrasic Park in 1990, and the movie was in development way before Jurrasic Park began. It was just in development hell before Corman took over and knocked it out quickly. The publisher even sued Chrichton for ripping them off. Much like he got sued for Congo and others as if you look to his books and look at other books there are a lot of things that are very similar to what he was being sued over. He was sued over Carnosaur because the creation of the dinosaurs were almost exactly the same except he used frogs/lizards instead of chickens/birds like Canosaur did to fill in the DNA gaps. The bad guy in Carnosaur was making the dinosaurs for a game/hunting preserve and in JP it was a visitor park. Various things that seemed very much the same but at the same time changed just enough for the lawsuit to fail before the JP an Carnosaur movie came out
