The first game Turok from the 2008 work enough and well as a one shot, no need for a sequel truly. Even more one which can made the first game less good. Better than things remain as they are now.

@@dudotolivier6363 Maybe, maybe not. I do think a sequel could've improved upon the first game's shortcomings. As much as I enjoyed it, it did have them. The guns could've had more oomf and variety to them. I mean, the Pulse rifle kind of overshadowed the rest of the arsenal, The enemy ai could've been better, the human enemies, I mean. Things like that.

But from all the stuff like concept art and others regarding Turok 2, this "sequel" was very clearly mean to not even really if at all the following of the first game. Mainly, Turok don't even have the same face in these leaked stuff than the one he have in the 2008 game. In the leaked Turok 2 stuff, he have an amerindian face, while in the 2008 he have a complete difference face (don't even know if he was amerindian in the 2008 game). So while it appreciable it was mean to look in the "sequel" more closely to the general origins/ethnic the character he ean to be than in the 2008 game which took clear distances with the rest of the franchise, it enough to not made the 2008 and Turok able to be canon between them.

Same, I've played through the original N64 Turok games thanks to Nightdive Studios. But Turok 2008, despite some flaws, remains my favorite. Hoping it too gets rereleased one day.

Primal Rage 2 was far into development when they canceled the project. They even had a working prototype.

That’s all Peter Molyneux and Lionhead is good at, though-interesting concepts that they have no idea how to turn into actual gameplay. If it had come out, I guarantee it would have been a disappointment.

There’s also the A Sound of Thunder game based on the movie of the same name. It shared the premise of the movie where the present is changed after the butterfly was killed in the past, and dinosaurian creatures appear, too. IIRC there was a mechanic where killing certain enemies would prevent them from showing up in future levels, taking advantage of the butterfly effect idea

Primal Carnage Genesis, Mesozoica, Saurian, Beasts of Prey, Half life 2 Jurassic Park adventure mod that is made and fully working but cant be shared because of universal (cant recall the name), Jurassic Park aftermath, Jurassic Park Builder which servers were also shut down due to universals greed. You could end on a high note and also mention Dino Run 2, since it is a sequel that was teased for a long time but is finally about to be released in about a year or so.

Great video! I’ve gotta try the original Turok, because I love the old Carnivores games and Trespasser. Could you do a video on The Lost World arcade’s special edition? It was this new version of the game, maybe a Japanese exclusive, where the arcade machine was like a tiny theater set up like the RV in the movie. I’ve see a few old photos, but there’s not much info on it. I know that the levels were rearranged to match the plot of the movie better, the Carnotaurus level was removed, and the finale was a new level of a T. Rex in San Diego. I’d love to see footage! If you do that, I also know that the game would have come to Sega Dreamcast around 1999 or 2000. It would have been one of the best games of the time probably, as it would have been so expanded from the already highly acclaimed arcade version. Anyway, thanks

Along with Second Extinction, you could have mentioned Saurian too. A dinosaur sim that was released in 2017 after a successful Kickstarter and is still in the Early Access stage. Unfortunately, Saurian had an accident because one of the ex-developers stole the money and almost bankrupted them. The development of the game is now on hiatus and it is kept alive by volunteers.

I got a great dinosaur video game that was never made and that dinosaurs game was called, Primal Carnage Genesis. The game was going to be a first person shooter survival game and a prequel to the original Primal Carnage game. We only got two teaser trailers of the game that are most cinematic and no gameplay, but there’s some screenshots of gameplay and concept art.

So THIS one in particular before all others dinosaurs games domain is indeed pretty famous and have such of history, both complicated and surounded by dubious element, AND, rare instance to however point out, made a very surprising, unexpected... yet not truly wanted either now that I think about it at the same time, come back recently and will soon be released and be possible to play. As after 2 iterations, that is the initial one, a first come back around 2015 to be then linked to the 2015 JW movie but again cancelled for some reasons, JP Survival have been announced some months ago and to be soon the newr Jurassic franchise game to come next... ... Only to be now just a pathetic, generic and unimaginative game about the very first 1993 movie, with the exact same dinosaurs, exact same locations, really almost 100% of what there in the movie inside it. And being basically just at the end a travel/walk simulation of the first park with only tons and overcrowded references all the one meters, this just to bait old fans and rise up nostalgia. And nothing much else. A game like the ones, both officially or fan-games/indies games, we already seen and have been made soooooo many times, over and over since the 3 decades of lifespan the franchise have. There will be nothing truly new that haven't been made before in this upcoming entry that made 2 decade to finally be a thing. A game based and mean to tool place on the first movie setting (I said"mean" and not "will" because there no confirmation it will be even canon on top of that. Despite being wanted to take place after the event of the movie. Why making a game that take place in the canon to not have the latter being canon ??? If it happen to be the case, si we will play for complete NOTHING) while we are currently completely deeply and inside the Jurassic World era part of it. Shouldn't be better and relevant to made it taking place in the setting of the current era of the Jurassic World movies than the one of the first trilogy which passed a long time ago ? Especially since the Jurassic World games even more are very lowein number ? Again, that also is an indication that this smell badly just the bait of old fan and cheap and quickly made game without much care or love put into it. It is mean to be a scary survival horror game at the first person with the character just able to flee the dinos. But that already what we get with Jurassic World Aftermatch only some years ago. And this last game was actually good for being memorable, innovant, using the JW setting at its best, and was different and not something that was already made before. Jurassic Park Survival will just be a correct but not more entry, because there really not much to talk about it. 2 decades of cancelation, delay and constant edits to finally have it... for nothing. Cursed to the very end...

Rareware's Dinosaur Planet it was almost finished and ready to release but than Starfox was forced into it and it's story was changed to fit in with Fox McCloud's. It's so dad that we never got to see the original concept and story in action.

There was a cancelled Jurassic Park game named "Jurassic Park: Survival" (not to be confused with the upcoming 2024 game of the same name) which was being developed by Savage Entertainment back in 2002 and would've been based around JP3 which I still feel to this day hasn't been explored as much as the other movies.

If you want a Second Extinction similar game i thing there is one: ORION: Prelude, a 4 player coop wave survivor game. Its have dinos and its only cost 1 euro.(i dont played SE so idk but i have the same feel when i see it)

One that I wanted to play back in the day was an RTS called Dawn of War. It was a caveman-and-dinos deal with egg capturing mechanics and base building. It got cancelled not to far into production.

BC is the one that’s really unfortunate, because young me would have loved this game. There’s a video on KZbin that shows off all of the dev-builds that have been leaked and it’s impressive how fleshed out the game already was before being cancelled. More frustrating is that years later Michel Ancel was developing a very similar game simply called Wild and that one was apparently cancelled too.

There are other dinosaur games that where cancelled and being a scamm ,thise being primal carnage genesis that would give lore about how dinosaurs and humans fight, and the stomping land it has a similar play style like ark survival evolved but more grounded and realistic for its development but sadly the head developer of the game alex jig fundira left the team and took the money with him , and now he's finally back to rework on his game .

Damn I kinda forgot about Second Extinction, when it came out I didn't have a PC that could run it but being a dinosaur game i was interested, though it looked like the sort of thing that wouldn't have a long shelf life anyway and...well. We need more SINGLEPLAYER dino games, I really hope developers stop chasing multiplayer trends. Yes I know multiplayer games make the most money but why not just make that secondary. some of the best multiplayer modes of all time are really pretty damn simple, Halo's multiplayer isn't all that complicated but people have played it for ages and they still have a fun campaign to enjoy as well.

I had a feeling Second Extinction wouldn't make it out of early access. Horde based shooters are great for a few hours of play with friends, but if you've played one, you've played them all. It was a shallow game from concept to execution that was likely going to fall to the way side sooner rather than later. Turok 2 hurt though. I was a huge fan of the 08 remake and was one of the first games I sought out after getting my hands on a ps3. Damn shame that Disney canceled it. Fuck the house of mouse... Glad it's getting it's just desserts.

I loved second extinction. it failed because it was hardly advertised anywhere and it was only 3 players instead of 4 and the characters you chose determined your abilities and weapons instead of just being able to choose whatever you wanted

Besides Starcraft Ghost, Turok 2008's sequel getting cancelled along with that fun looking Pirates of the Caribbean game truly sucked. Wasn't even Propaganda Games fault. Disney made them make a Tron tie in game that flopped and then shut them down. Hoping Nightdive Studios will eventually remaster Turok 2008 and Turok Evolution one day. Turok 2008 isn't available on any pc digital stores or current consoles. Wasn't even made backwards compatible on Xbox One X and Xbox Series X like some 360 games. I remember being excited for B.C. Shame it was cancelled too. I also recall that cancelled Lost World Jurassic Park PS2 game as well. Still no release dates, but here's to hoping Ferocious and Compound Fracture turn out great. Ferocious especially as I've wanted Far Cry 1/Crysis 1 with dinosaurs for years now.
