This song, and that whole album came from Lou and Murph getting together without J for a whole summer or something, and hammering all the stuff out so when J got back they'd be tight as hell. In my opinion it's not just their best record, it's one of the best albums of all time. So glad they're still killing it and not doing what the Pixies did when they reunited and couldn't get the spark back.

They are a much tighter unit than they were years ago. The recording tech here might honestly be better than what they were working with in 1987. It's times like these that I wish for the impossible: a studio rerecording of YLAOM, and also Green Mind (which I also adore, but the production never grew on me).

Saw them live when they reunited quite a while ago, one of the best performances of my life, and I’ve seen at least 300 gigs in the past 20 years. Lou is a beast live. Couldn’t hell but go for a dance on the stage, stage dive and body surf.

I've always thought this song influenced Sappy by Nirvana. Particularly in lyrical themes and on Cobain's guitar solo. Dinosaur was a huge influence on them, something that is readily apparent if you've seen concert footage of Dinosaur from the mid-80's.
