Awesome catch! Nice to see you catch fish that are not in my area to see what it's about. I did land my first rainbow trout yesterday! Came out of a little pond but I guess they had stocked them at one point. Still waiting to see you and that big muskie!! That's one I have not hooked yet either. Always a great video!

Where i live, they man make tiny little.creeks that are barely 2 feet wide and 8 inches deep. That ia where they spawn...it is pretty wild. Water so small the fish doesnt even fully submerge at spots. And years ago, there would be as much salmom as water...not so much anymore.

Awesome, looks like fun for sure. I was curious about how old these fish were. Googled king salmon lake Michigan and I was amazed that the average lifespan was about 4 years, attaining weights of 15 to 30 lb. Might I suggest some 5mm neoprene Surf/dive booties for adventures like that. You can get some with a pretty decent sole that will last you and they're pretty cheap on the Amazon. They would fit in the suitcase. Probably come in handy in your kayak adventures where your stepping out into all kinds of crap all the time. Have a good day my friend

@@corkyvanderhaven3391 I've been watching this channel religiously for years. I love how he just gets in there and you hear his buddy say I don't have waiters so I'm not helping you, haha. And then the other guy rolls in with the net for his buddy but wasn't there the first time for ty. Pretty amusing. It can be freezing cold out and dude will sacrifice his sneakers all day for a fish. I love that about him. Just don't want to see the dude break an ankle on rocks like that because he chooses to wear crocs while stream crawling. I have been a surfer for a long time and I use that sort of footwear for Wade fishing and the like. Versatile piece of equipment and even if you fill them with water you still stay warm. Definitely much better footing than Crocs and better protection overall. I have been bit by crabs salt fishing and cut my foot on barnacles. Takes forever for that to heal because of the particular bacteria. Up to six weeks in my experiences and bad scars. I know when he does that gnarly cat and gar fishing in Texas there is god knows what in the water. Cheers to you and have a great day. Hope you bag a PB this year. Hope I do too, salt and fresh 😄

@@rsktransport he said it in the video. I know from the other people I watch that they stocked the Great lakes with several species of trout years ago and they thrive there. I wasn't thinking about it, but salmon is a new one on me there as well. I suppose they were stocked also. Amazing what weird things you learn on fishing videos that you never thought about or thought you needed to know. I do love me some Google because I'm just so curious and it's great to settle arguments. At least the ones you know you're right on 😆😆 I told my mom, if they had Google when I was a kid I would have been a damn genius by the time I was 15, haha. Most curious child ever with a million questions. When I was a kid I had flashcards about animals and you had to get into the encyclopedia to learn about much of this stuff. Technology has been a damaging thing for humans, but it has also been an incredible learning tool

I enjoy your videos very much….that being said I must say I don’t know if you’re unaware but chasing spawning king salmon in a shallow creek is shameful, they are not only inedible but at the last stages of their cycle, they don’t care about anything but spawning, warn out already, after you fight them sooo long they will surely die after you’ve released them without a chance to spawn, not to mention walking all over the spawning beds kill future salmon, may I challenge you to try and learn about the earlier runs before they turn ? The fight is much more insane and one helluva challenge on heavy gear….. getting them to bite learning their habits is very difficult and well worth the effort, much more so than this, you’re better than this man.
@TyPigPatrol
@TyPigPatrol Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your concern, I understand it. However 99.9% of the Great Lakes salmon are born in a hatchery, these creeks are not adequate to fertilize salmon eggs. That being said I don’t know if I’ll do this type of fishing again. Thanks for watching!

@Thea-gj2or Жыл бұрын
@@jasonmcgonigal8044 no, they won't successfully spawn. Not one single baby salmon will swim down the root river this spring unless released from a hatchery. The root river is a very muddy, polluted, slow flowing urban waterway. Not at all what is needed for salmon to successfully reproduce.

Pretty chill little heron / crane...I was fishing from a canoe with a bud one time who doesnt really fish...he hooks a catfish and cant get it off the line...I told him to leave it in the water and I would deal with it once I was reeled in...he stupidly dangled it off the front...NOT in the water...and this giant blue heron, like...4 feet tall...lands right on the nose of the canoe and grabs his catfish that is still on the line and starts trying to attack my buddy to get it lol. Also...i am yelling at him, "cut the line man! But dont effing tip the canoe!" He literally almost got killed by being speared by a heron...I couldnt believe it. Oh...and to the idiots who say spawning salmon wont ever bite...shut up. You can literally watch them chase bait...I get them every year while rainbow fishing with lures.

Sort off...but not really. The current and snags make a river salmon fight much more exciting. I caught a 22lb ladt year on the bay and I thought i had a channel cat or something as it barely.faught at all. My sister pulled in an 18lb when she was like...5 years old. She wpuld never have landed a running salmon from the river. I watched a guy fight a 18lb in the river a block from my house for over 45 minutes...with proper gear. And it almoat spooled him numerous times. When they get way far up the tribs with hunks of flesh hanging off them, sure, it is like pulling in a boot...but who fishes those spots anyway. Not like you can eat them, and are only messing with the spawning at that point. I dont target spawning salmon at all, and i live in between two rivers with runs less than a block from my house.
