An ongoing study utilizing the most recent scientific data on dinosaur vocalizations. Sounds are produced by myself and digitally workshopped from modern non-syrinx based avian reptiles. Using skull and olfactory cavity proportions, one can attempt to recreate the flow of sound, frequency, and volume of each animal. Much study is required for each particular species, and often several phases are trashed due to general unlikelihood. The final results are based on acute representations of what sounds would be most comfortable and base-line for each animal. Video also includes other reptiles, even though they are much more difficult to produce accurately.

Aim: To be more sophisticated than Julia Clarke's rendition, which included: combining the booming call of the Eurasian bittern with the growling vocalizations of the Chinese crocodile, and then scaling it up to T-rex’s estimated size (about 12 meters or 40 feet long), what they got was a ominous low rumble.

The thing about these calls is the fact that they're in theory going in and out of the average human's audible range. Which means you'll feel it in your bones, and in your brains. its a slowed loon call !! They live in lakes in Canada and the northern US :] I hear them all the time where I live Oh and fun fact: They rarely go on land because their legs are placed farther back on their body, so they can barely walk. And their bones are denser then most other birds because it helps them to dive, so they can't fly as well as other birds can. They have to consistently flap their wings instead of gliding and need a "running start" to get in the air !!

@@Velanestar There is not much evidence for venom or pack hunting. Those came from the idea that dilo had a weak bite, but we now know they actually had rather strong jaws and could hunt without help from other dinos or venom. Also it is fine to disagree with others' opinions, but you do not have to treat yours like it is a fact.

@@VelanestarActually the Dilophosaurus never had any type of Venom inside it's mouth meaning it's not venomous, in fact when it haunts it's prays it kills them by it's strong byte. In the film "Jurassic Park" There is a scene where it's shown that the Dilophosaurus has a venomous byte but that's actually innacurate or more likely fake like the fact that people think that the tyrannosaurus Rex never had feathers but it always had feathers.

To think larynxs have been found blows my mind. I greatly appreciate the effort put into producing these sounds, as well as, the amount of research. That is abudantly clear! I love being able to feel some lizard brain section light up in some primal fight or flight reaction. Genetic memory of sorts kicking in! Plus, the visuals you've created to size comparisons is very reminiscent of those cool Dinosaur books one would read as a child that helped put context of how impressively built these creatures were. This honestly made me think about buying a big Dinosaur book just read through it while listening to these sounds.

These Mesozoic creature sounds are way more terrifying than the ones in documentaries and movies. The scariest sounding creatures were the Gorgosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Dilophosaurus, Quetzalcoatlus, Tyrannosaurus, Dryptosaurus, Spinosaurus, and Utahraptor.
@anglepsycho
@anglepsycho 8 ай бұрын
Funny fact, the Tyrannosaurus' tendum drum (think that's what it is, it picks up on sound wavelengths many other creatures with less developed ear drums can't hear, like how we can sense something in a horror movie from very specific audio cues that normally can never be heard outright) is over 4x more developed, so that would make your brain and everything start vibrating specifically with the "deep breathing" sound which is more of a hungered threatening call. Aka since they were cannibalistic if it came to extreme situations like the extinction blasts and seconds after, that's the last thing a T-Rex baby could hear before being eaten by it's mom. (Learned this from the Sue exhibit in National Denver Museum as well as years of research from other scientists.)

Gorgosaurus sounds like what pop culture thinks T Rex sounds like, and that's terrifying. Ceratosaurus sounds like I walked into the wrong cave, and now I'm gonna get my sh*t rocked. Dilophosaurus...how do I put this delicately...hearing this noise would undoubtedly make my sh*t my pants at mach 10. Quetzelcoatlus sounds EXACTLY as I pictured it...a terrifying screech betraying its lack of a soul and higher morals. Tyrannosaurus might sound funny to you until you remember what's making that noise. You'd honestly feel it before you're even able to perceive it, cause the next sensation after feeling it involves dismemberment. Dryptosaurus...I have no words, what can I even say to that???? Spinosaurus sounds like a ghostly wail, hearing that would immediately turn my ass 180 degrees. And Utahraptor...look just because it's one of my favorite dinosaurs does NOT mean I would appreciate being dismembered by Shaq sized raptors as they laugh at my great misfortune.

Yeahhh, the Cretaceous videos weren't made with that kind of continuity in mind so the three parts are totally a mixed back. I considered fixing that, but it would have taken several days and possibly a week or two to do and it seemed odd to just put all that work in to rearrange something. I originally planned to add interesting facts about each animal - I even had a whole pop-up animation finished with some facts - but my rendering program was REALLY struggling with this for some reason. I think it was the length and my harddrive space, but it took me a whole day to render this because it kept failing.
