We lived within walking distance of Dinting from 1980 until after it closed. We have great memories of the place and our children loved to visit it. We were working on a N-gauge model based on the site but after the closure we couldn't find the heart to carry on with the project given how the closure had come about.

So sad it all had to end. I recognise most of the lads there, having been up most Sundays for a round 12 to 15 years. Dinting was a great place to be back then. Happy memories. Thanks for posting, much appreciated. ❤

I recognise an old friend, Ged Cleary, with his huge smile 😃 at the table. I often went up with him to help out, and he would come back to our house just down the road for tea. Great times! I wonder what will become of the site. Leave it to nature, I guess..

We used to holiday in the area in the seventies and visited about three times. Always had a lovely atmosphere.

That’s heartbreaking to see the what’s all is left of the Dinting heritage railway.

I can’t imagine anyone would be allowed to destroy what is now an area of greenery. And what would be recreated? The place was more about the people who created it. Who is there now to do it again?

It’s a tune I came up with a few years ago. It seemed to go with the sentiment in the images.
