I'm a Aussie from Newcastle NSW, i went there in 1985 and saw Bitten, Blue Peter and the Robinson 2-8-0( I've seen and climbed on the three survivoring R.O.D.S.). I also saw Bahamas being restored in that through running shed. Thank you for sharing this with us. It's just sad to see this happen.

There was a model steam railway at the railway centre. I ran my 3.5 inch gauge locomotive all those years ago. Happy days.

That has changed a bit since Nunlow and Warrington gave brake van rides on the demonstration line. The shed entrance was via a crossing that was situated close to where your video started. Thanks for sharing 👍

I remember going to this railway centre and still have a small booklet somewhere which I keep seeing. Some radio amateurs were operating from here on the day which I went see what they were doing as well as the trains. G4GHB.

Used to be taken there as a kid, way back, when the bigger locos included Leander, Kolhapur, Bahamas and Scots Guardsman. POSSIBLY, Midland Rly compound 1000 might've been there, too. Our neighbour, an entrepreneur, would drive me and his son, in his big, blue Volvo 265 GLS Estate and, at the upper area, he'd operate a miniature steam-engine, together with his buddies - hauling little wagons, which we, the passengers, would sit astride. He too was a radio fan, who got into CB-Radio at that time. Good times, indeed - the endless freight trains would trundle along Dinting Viaduct, often hauled by double-headed 'Tommies.'

@@richardberechula2942 I'd be in my 20's when I went. It was a good few hours out and I was surprised and disappointed in later years to learn it had closed. We did go to York Railway Museum and I love the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry with all the different machinery. Okay about your C.B. friend, I never was on C.B., it wasn't heard of so I did the radio exam and later passed the Morse Code test.

Very sad to see it, i went up there for fifteen years. Need a bit of correction on the brick buildings, not part of the station but used by Dinting for storage. Glad you found where you were in the end. I did two videos earlier this year i think it was. Check them out, and the info i put down. 🎉

The site at Dinting was still being used by BR in 1967. It closed about the same time as the nearby Waterside branch.

I think it closed to steam in 1954.

I use the 1961 codes. Northwich was coded 8E then.

Nice one! Well discovered after your adventure through the forest. I remember visiting the place some years ago and having an enjoyable day photographing a variety of engines there. Looks a tad different these days! Best wishes from an old ORLFC fan. ..... from t' Gloddick.
