First I have heard this when I was 17 - and over more than 30 years now, again and again, am amazed how this recording defeats all challenges of modern recording technologies with an unbeaten ease and grace, how Lippati is able to capture you with every single attack. What a gift, that it is still there! It is exactly how David Finch Hatton in "Out of Africa" says: "Finally they have invented something useful!"

This live concert should be praised in every possible way. Lipatti is subtle without being sentimental, has an extraordinary touch and a rare musical sense with infinite accents. His Celeste liberty of expression and his interior intensity are almost censorial. This interpretation invites the listener to be inside the music of Mozart with an emotional active role. The cadanze are superb, expressive and totally in context. Thank you for posting this amazing document !

I'm not so sure about how his Mozart would measure up to Horowitz's but Horowitz recorded this at the height of his maturity while Lipatti died at a very premature one. Agocics, as a schooled musician me once told me that the movement, rythm comes within the music itself, dinu was besides a gifted pianist above all a dedicated musician, he would never allowed himself to the so-called (rocket) brilliance of performances now-a days. The 'rocket' comes from the music itself with good help from a gifted perfomer. I think that even rubenstein sometimes needed to smoothe out things. By dinu that is not the case. Of course 'smoothing' out is somewhat the opposite of 'rocket-playing'.
