Thanks for making this video. I have been following all your visdeos. You and electgroboom make some of the most interesting videos. This is the second time I am watching your video. This time one year later. shows how much I enjoy watching your videos. :) if you have 1000 Turns and the output is 50KV then the voltage per turn is only 50 Volts/turn so crossing one or two turns will not affect the design. The voltage breakdown is the distance between the output point of the coil and the one on the stick you use to trigger the arc. After that the air gets ionized and forms a plasma which has a very much lower breakdown and a high current. Due to this high current the long TC should have a heavier thickness wire so it does not heat up due to I^2xRes of the wire.

Fantastic tip on tuning the secondary. The first coil i built in the 1970's was a failure as I had no idea how to tune the primary to the secondary so it was massively out of tune. It ran off a 500 watt neon sign transformer.

HI Everybody. I was wondering if a plasma ball could be used to disable the corona virus inside the lungs simply by holding a plasma ball/tesla coil near the lung/chest area front and back as the field seems to exist quite a distance. Viruses are quite fragile and a strong em field could disable it's reproductive ability and the body could clear it like any other infection....

Good point about corona from the coil. That will happen even without insulation breakdown just from capacitive coupling. Seen that on high output automotive ignitions. The spark plug wires and coil will have lots of small arcs and corona, even though the insulation is intact from the capacitive coupling to the outside world. Doesn't seem to impact reliability, but it is unnerving on cars with computer controlled engines since the corona can potentially destroy an I/O or even the CPU/flash if it gets into the wire harness.

I suspect: For example crystal oscillators produce very clean AC voltage but they require a circuit which matches their frequency. This here is similar since you produce an AC voltage with a certain frequency with the 555 timer which you can control over a potentiometer. This voltage is connected to your resonance circuit which consists of the inductor (tesla coil secundary) and a capacitor (actually the capacitance between the tesla coil top and ground). Notice that the leds aren't conncected to ground so normally very little current flows. However the amount of current which flows maxes when the frequency of the 555 timer matches with the resonance frequency and that is why the leds glow since they are brighter the higher the current is.
