Diorissimo was my mother's signature scent, and when she died 17 years ago, I took her two EDT bottles home with me and shut them away in my perfume cabinet, waiting for the day when I'd have the heart to smell this again. Finally, this summer, I did. Wow, one of the most gorgeous and glorious florals I've ever smelled. Effervescent and uplifting and yet tender and slightly melancholy at the same time. I hate to hear what it's been reduced to.

I just got a sample of the perfume and find it GORGEOUS, so I can't even imagine how good the older formulation was...

Yes. I wear it once a year; on May 17., which is Norway's constitution day, and when the lilies-of-the-valley bloom in my garden. Greenness and the lilies.
@ouch1107 жыл бұрын
How cool! So you added to the overall lily smell of Norway that day how fitting? :)

Thomas - We are always thankful you would sacrifice your life in the name of a fragrance review! Why do you think they are dumbing down these complex fragrances? Money, audience? So tragic.
@ouch1107 жыл бұрын
It's unfortunately because of new regulations that came into play a few years ago by the EU an IFRA. It's all to do with allergens. There is a list of ingredients which suddenly became either banned completely or are now only allowed to be used in certain amounts. It was basically the death of Chypres because Oakmoss was one of the ones that was hit hard. It's such a shame and a huge change in the fragrance industry. I mean, people are allergic to nuts and can die but, you still get given them on aeroplanes! ARGH

This is my mother’s signature scent, and I remember she always brought back some insects with her including bees from the park whenever she wore this 😂. Never happened with her other perfumes tho.

I just scored a 100ml bottle of vintage Diorissimo for $45!!! Can't believe what a great deal this was. Now I'm hunting Diorama, Diorella & the other one I can't remember the name of lol

the original fragrance Diorissimo created by Edmound Roudnitska in 1956 is the most sophisticated formula and amazing recreation of the Lilly of the valley scent, fresh floral, refined and elegant, absolutely masterpiece in perfumery. What a pity Dior stop producing the same perfume as originally created by the great perfumer of 20 th century,

very nice review, and funny too! i've been obsessing with one of these Dior fragrances, i tried one on at an airport and really liked it but now i don't remember which one it was - Dioressence or Diorissimo or Diorella!! It was a green floral, i think. hard to sample them where i live..sigh...
@ouch1107 жыл бұрын
Dioressence is the soft, soapy & powdery green Chypre of the bunch, this one is VERY floral and not very green, and Diorella I haven't smelled but it is supposed to be more citrussy/green. So it's either Dioressence or Diorella.

Haha thanks babe. :) Yeah...unfortunately they had to due to law, but..still..don't lie to me! I've even had sales assistants telling me "it's only the bottle that changed, the perfume is the same". LIES!

What about the smell, is it the same again or has it changed completely?

Is it really that big of a difference from the vintage one? I miss smelling it...planning to get a bottle just because it's my older sister's favorite. She passed on and i miss her 😢

It is, any Dior fragrance that has been reformulated is unfortunately just not as rich or long lasting as the original.

I ordered one today and I'm sad that I din't seen this review prior.
@michaelmuller26163 жыл бұрын
I knew this one from my childhood and ordered the eau de parfum because i thought it will be "diorissimo like" but only longer lasting. But its a brutal,expensive and loud jasmine Hammer. Its hard do detect a lilly of the valley there. Its only the eau de toilette that smells like a walk over a lily of the valley field in springtime when the sun is shining from a cloudless Sky. Or.....springtime in a bottle. The same but opposite you can find in the Essence of the Park. The perfume smells heavenly divine,and the eau the perfume is not only weaker[like it should be]-its a completely different scent. Why is that legal? I paid 90€ for that digusting and weak perfume. And smelled the profumo Version in the perfumery. The difference is unbelieveble. Like a cheap nollie scent from the drug store

Can I just correct you on your French pronunciation? In French the pronunciation for “les” which is plural for the French “the” is pronounced as “lay” not LES. Thank you for your great reviews. Christopher

What do you think, Tommy? Would you be interested in making a video that covers trends in perfume, by the decade? Like popular notes and styles over the years?

I’ve never laughed so much at a review for reasons having nothing to do with the review: the “this is happening whether we want it to or not,” the “slashing,” bride role-playing, haha.

I honestly love this better. The simplicity and the lily of the valley. Song of Solomon 2:1-17 WMB I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys. Fun Fact 1 The Lily of the Valley is also known as Our Lady’s Tears because, according to legend, at the crucifixion of Jesus, the Virgin Mary’s tears fell at the foot of the cross and turned into these tiny fragrant blossoms. It symbolises purity, sweetness, humility, virtue, femininity, motherhood, beauty and the return of happiness. Fun Fact 2 The flowers, fruit, and leaves of the lily of the valley plant are poisonous. The plant is classified as a “1” on the poison scale, which means it has major toxicity that can lead to death. It is also a “3” due to its often severe dermatitis. Fun Fact 3 The fragrance of lily of the valley cannot be extracted from the flower. We are therefore obliged to recreate its scent through a combination of natural and synthetic raw materials. This accord can be called reproduction or reconstitution. It is also possible to use the headspace, which will be a reproduction of the scent of the flower but more focused on its top notes. Fun Fact 4 Christian Dior’s lucky flower and the emblem of Dior Couture. Fun Fact 5 It’s my favorite flower #1
