I insufflated (and purchased) the trio in 2004 while still at university. I had never in my life smelled anything like those three scents. They were strange and beautiful. And the names! 'Blanche', 'Noire', 'Argent'! They were chosen because those were the primary colours of Hedi Slimane's Dior Homme men's collection. All his clothes were black and white with silver accessories. The whole concept was revolutionary. And the scents are still incomparably unique today. Chanel did it for women in the 20s. Slimane did it for men in the 2000s. Thank you for reviewing them so beautifully (as per yooje), D. ❤

I bought this same set mostly for eau noir. I find the new one less sweet and more spicy. BUT, I’m very happy that it’s not an insult to my older eau noir. Honestly, they’re all good.

In fairness, Mr. P attracts a knowledgeable, passionate crowd. For people with a keen sense of smell who have smelled a large number of perfumes, what others may read as a subtle difference will register as an unforgivable assault on the senses. Just as some people can pick out subtle differences in color and others can't tell the difference between blue and green.

Oo I love this! Have you done the Eau Noire comparison yet? That’s my favorite and I’m dying to know. I only smelled the green one a couple of times so can’t compare. I cannot stop wearing the new one! Regardless of the changes, I really adore the new one. I recommend for bed.

Francis with Eau noire took Sycomore and said "let this forest burn!". I hate that I like this fragrance, I can't explain this feeling. It's like I can't stop thinking of it and I keep smelling my wrist trying to capture every shades of it. Maybe this is how real love feels like? ugh.

Today I bought a 40 ml "Eau Noir": (Un)fotunately I've never smelt the previous one, so I love this and I'm happy ( I'm curious about your opinion nevertheless). Bois d'argent smell different to me and I'll use the 7ml miniature my sister gave me years ago as long as it lasts and then if things are different or change my mind I can try the new one. I'm both glad and a little sorry I haven't tried Eau Noir before, but for now I'll enjoy my little bottle! Yes, Cologne Blanche is very nice, for me it is the kind of fraagrance that seems to slow time so I can relax. I find it smells soft, and comfortable.

On Dior's website it says François Demachy as perfumer for Bois d'Argent, which is very disrespectful for Annick Mernado, as she was the true master behind this beauty, I wish Dior would at least pay their respect to her by adding her name as the perfumer. That said, I love the new version of Bois d'Argent and Cologne Blanche. Eau Noir is gorgeous on one of my friends but I can't wear it.
@Persolaise Жыл бұрын
Interesting -- he probably was the perfumer of one of the more recent versions, but yes, the original was certainly by AM.

Hi. How do you think, what is better, Bois d’argent or Amouage Interlude Black Iris? I like both, but will buy only one. My favorites are Dior Ambre Nuit and Yves Saint Laurent Tuxedo

Concerning Bois d'argent; Is this new Francis Kurkdjian version going to replace the current version (big bottle), or is this just a limited edition in this trio-box?

@Persolaise2 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much, Ryan. No, I believe the Celines were done by different perfumers, although I could be wrong. From an initial sniff, these three new ones do seem to be on the quiet side, so I’d recommend sampling before you buy.
@michaelnamikas81842 жыл бұрын
So many fragrance addicts are miserable and cynical. Demachy is one of their bogeymen. His perfume could cure cancer and they would whine about it. They refuse to give anything new a chance at all. I ignore all of their opinions. Whenever Kurkdjian decides to put out a new Dior pillar, rest assured, their initial reaction will be to despise it no matter how it smells.
