It is so sad to hear from so many reviewers that the formula of most perfumes has been decreasing over the years. After all, it's just a matter of greed, because knowledge & formula remain... 🤔💭💔 Secondly, as soon as I mentioned Loulou, by Cacharel, I realized that I must I'm going to love Poison. Loulou was one of the first designer perfumers I received as a gift (I was a very young, and evidently... stupid girl... 😜) It was a Cacharel mini collection box... ❤️ (What a shame I didn't keep those mini bottles... 🫣) I really need Loulou in my life. Even though I'm not a huge fan of that newer bottle... 🤨 but the fragrance... #ToDieFor P.S.- So funny! I was way too young at the time to wear some of these purfumes, but I still adored them... 😁 #TheMeaningOfClassics

@@beautybug1831 You’re absolutely right. I try not to talk about reformulations too much or too often so as to avoid talking about fragrances in black and white terms (vintage is good, new is bad) but nevertheless reformulations happen and I can smell the difference with some of my favourites. It’s also true that someone who wore Poison in its glory days might find the current formula absolutely vile, whereas someone else might find it satisfactorily and worth the money. I buy vintage as well as new, it really depends. But in the end, it’s we consumers who vote with their money.

Hi there, it certainly takes guts to wear Poison, especially in its original form. My mum, who used to love Poison (bought it because everyone else had it), doesn’t wear it anymore. She says it’s too much for her. Sadly, she didn’t keep her vintage bottle. I had to order mine on eBay. Thanks for watching.

@@lukeparfumswhy does it take guts to wear a perfume , i dont understand that part lol, you either like it or you dont
@lukeparfums6 ай бұрын
@@indiansoljaa Why? Because some scents challenge conventional norms and push boundaries. But I guess that's lost on some noses. Also, it isn't just about liking or disliking a fragrance; fragrances like Poison are nuanced and multifaceted.

I was just a teen ager when I feel in love with Poison. I saved money just to be able to buy a dabber perfume...and loved it immensely. I still do though I have a lot of perfumes now. I plan to buy a new one sometime soon.

@@lukeparfums Yes, I heard. :) But somewhere deep in your sub-conscious, it must have registered because it smells familiar. In hindsight, I don't think Poison is a very suitable for a teen-ager, ha ha ha...but you love what you love. My mom's perfume was Joy de Jean Patou.

@@123tigercub Yes, it was instantly familiar. It’s fascinating how well we remember scents, probably better than images. Poison is just a forever fragrance for me. No, it’s certainly not suitable for a teenager!🤣 Your mum had great taste… Joy by Jean Patou is another incredible timeless classic perfume. Did you revisit this one too? I really want to try it again sometime.
@123tigercub7 ай бұрын
@@lukeparfums I didn't because it's hard to find and very expensive now I am sure! The Jean Patou I am talking about is the one in the original small black bottle with red cap. I think that while being visual is quite apparent, I think scents are more potent. They can remind us of memories even with a sense that isn't linked with images, right?

I love Poison and LouLou, but Poison outperforms me. Both are the Vintage version. I believe they have some similarities, however LouLou is powdery, while Poison is sweeter and more spicy. My English is not good, but I loved the video, with the subtitles in PT BR I was able to understand everything. Success with your channel!❤

I liked Poison back in the day but I never owned it. I would sorta like a bottle if one came my way but I won’t go on the hunt for vintage anymore. I read a book many years ago by Rosamunde Pillcher called September that had character called Pandora who wore Poison, practically bathed in it. I never forgot that for some reason. If anyone I knew in real life wore Poison, I can’t remember. My mother wore Patou 1000. I wore various things, Oscar, Shalimar, Paris, but I can’t remember which years. A friend wore Ysatis. It was many years later when I sampled Poison, and I liked it very much,though I think by then it had been reformulated. Still, it was nice. I would wear it for myself. But I have a lot of fragrances like that. 😏

Great review. I love vintage beastmode Poison; I'm looking forward to wearing it now autumn's coming🍂. Last month I added vintage Midnight Poison to my collection and that's another goody; i'd bought Dua's version as for years the prices on Ebay/Etsy were ridiculous and I'd given up hope of finding a bottle for a reasonable price. Dua's version is very good and lasts so I'm planning on getting their version of Hypnotic Poison.

I just have bought Poison and the first thought I had was: is this Chanel n5?!? I don’t know why I thought that, and after a second I just recognised some sort of note that reminded me soooo much of my grandmother who loved chanel n5. I don’t know what perfume she wore, maybe it was tuberose heavy, or maybe the town she lived had tuberose, but it’s just soooo her. I don’t see exactly something dark, or mysterious because I associate this with her. In my mind I just picture a place full of white flowers, and a lady in white dress that seduces you with her dark plum lips. It’s definitely interesting scent, I can’t wait to see what my husband would say about it, but I personally would describe myself as a Hypnotic poison girl. Thanks for the review and the comparison, I am tired of reviews that only speak about the old formula 🤷🏼♀️

It’s just remarkable how scents have the ability to evoke memories or to play tricks on our minds. Sometimes all objective attempts to compare or categorise perfumes fail. I get that with Poison too. It subconsciously reminds me of some other scents my mother wore, including CK Obsession and Cerruti 1881 even though these have nothing in common per se. As far as “darkness” goes, I think the dark purple bottle does the trick and we assume that the scent must be dark too even though that’s also subjective. Tuberoses are white. One associates them with weddings, the other with funerals and death. But I digress. Thank you for commenting!
