I ordered the 8.5 oz of this and Dior accidentally sent me another box so now I have 2 and I LOVE IT 😻 thank you papa Persolaise ❤️

Great review. I know what you mean about preferring it on paper. On my skin it went a bit cloying but once it dried down more it was quite nice. Thanks!

Oh, happy to hear good things from you about this one! Chergui is a favorite of mine, and I adore Bell'Antonio by Hilde Soliani on my husband.

Hello Persolaise! I tested both Tobacolor and Acqua di Parma colonia Ebano from ingredients line: Tobacolor its Ebano + some sweet plumb/tobacco, thats it. Its falls to generic/mass pleasing for me, i will remain with beautiful Ebano wich is created also by the master Demachy. I own Ebano since last year!

Totally agree on tobacco itself smelling much better than cigarettes! Not many people get a chance to smell tobacco curing in the barns on the farm before the cigarette companies ever touch it. That’s one of my favorite smells in the world. So many fond memories of my grandpa’s farm. As a result I’m very picky about tobacco scents so far. (I hate when they’re overloaded with fruit, yuck). I’m still on the hunt for the perfect one. I do want to check out Tobacolor!

My first experience with a tobacco note is a recent one: Kosciuszko from Chicago brand Blocki. Since you lived in Poland, have you heard of Tadeusz Kosciuszko? I hadn't and apparently there is a monument to him on the south side of the city. I like the fact that the perfume also has a gunpowder accord, which is fitting for this American Revolutionary War hero.

Wow -- fascinating. I have heard of him, but I had no idea he'd inspired a perfume. Thanks for this.

Love this scent. Bought it and I this is NOT something to overspray. It’s so strong! Ps: I don’t think it smells at all like Black Phantom. I can see a similarity but BP more like a distant, club owner cousin.

The longevity of the Doha made one is superb compared to other version available around the world I guess ..... 8 hours solid on skin n 2 days in clothes....also the price is cheaper in Doha duty free compared to other outlets around the world.....

Means Dior fragrances are made in Middle east too? I thought they are all. Made in France 🤔
@rizwanrahim24163 жыл бұрын
@@eauceylon1891 Tobacolor is first launch in Doha early 2021...the perfumer himself was present at the exclusive launched in QDF Qatar Duty Free In Doha......and then was available in other countries..... I tried Doha and other versions but for me the Doha one is simply brilliant in terms of longevity

@@Persolaise Correct...but for some reason I really don't know why, the Doha ones are simply stunning coz I got a decant from a UK friend which didn't perform well side by side compared to the one I tried in Doha....

Also anyone visiting Doha or in transit lease drop into QDF as perfumes are 35% less when you buy 2....(not Tobacolor) but for staff 20% is applicable fortunately I have reserved by bottle hahahahah

I would've thought the name would be closer to Tobac-Olor, a play on spanish "olor" or smell of tobacco

Apple sheesha is not the most popular tobacco, it's only from recent 2 or 3 decades ago that it started to be popular, but the original sheesha was made from tobacco, it was soaked in some honey type, and it was actually rather disgusting, and I have no idea why it was the most popular type, the apple came on-board as the more western smoked sheesha, and it spread in that sense, which was much nicer than the old style.

One occasion where my opinion dramatically differs. I can't stand it. To me it smells like an ashtray, with added fruity floral vape juice (from bargain buys). It's horrible and gives me a headache. For tobacco I choose Xino Ummo, or with vanilla it's tough to beat Vanille Havane from Les Indemodables.

This one is far more divisive than I’d anticipated. I think it’s the sweetness that’s really putting some people off. Anyway, there’s nothing wrong with disagreement. Thanks for watching.

@@Persolaise What a bizarre comment from that chap. Please also except this 'feedback' - I've recently got into perfumes and have found your reviews to be far more helpful than any other youtuber/website. My only complaint is that you don't get to do more on here! Your knowledge and objectivity is enviable and - going slightly off topic - whilst I think you've been a little harsh on some of the 'Cluedo' Penhaligon's releases (I do think Lord George and The Impudent Cousin Matthew are excellent...), I can understand why you feel that way because of how you describe them, and that's actually more important to me. You also encouraged me to sample Orange Blossom off of the back of your review of it, and I'm now a firm fan of it and will hopefully be picking up a bottle shortly for the summer! Given we've all now been released from lockdown, I got the chance to sample Tobacolor along with some other Dior scents today, and I found myself quite taken with it, although I do find the opening to be very sweet (although not in the 'shrill' way I've found with a lot of designer releases). I'm less sure of where I'd wear it though and the cost is obviously prohibitive given that. If you do get the chance to read this, I wouldn't actually mind a bit of advice (no problem if not!). I'm quite keen to pick up a fig-based fragrance, as it's a note I particularly enjoy. The three I've kept hearing being mentioned are Philosykos, Fico di Amalfi and Un Jardin En Mediterranee, so I tried them all out today. Unfortunately the last of those really didn't work for me (I got a strong synthetic feel from elements of it, which I wasn't expecting) and the AdP faded on me exceptionally quickly. The Philosykos EDP was, however, right up my street. Before I consider committing, is there anything else in the same ball park I need to be checking out? The answer to that may well be 'no'! Sorry for the long post!
@Persolaise3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely no need to say sorry: thank you so much for writing. If I express my views on fragrances in this public forum, then I have to accept other people expressing their views on how I do things. It’s a shame the Hermes doesn’t work on you, because that’s definitely one I would have suggested. The Diptyque is a great choice. But I note you haven’t mentioned Premier Figuier from L’Artisan, which is generally considered to be the first fig scent. And there’s also Goutal Ninfeo Mio, although I’m not sure they still make it. Final thought: Nicolaï Fig Tea. Let me know what you choose.
@LordLove3 жыл бұрын
@@Persolaise Yes, I was disappointed on the Hermes too, as I really did want to love it! I do actually live 10 minutes walk a John Lewis though, so I'll give it another whirl to see if I'd just had a bad day with it. The only issue with the other two (which sound interesting) will be getting samples. Neither have stores near me, and nor do they offer individual sample vials online, it seems. I'll see if I can track them down. If not, Philosykos will certainly do. Thank you for the prompt and helpful response - hope to catch a live stream one of these days!

@@Persolaise Hola. Just to say I've revisited Un Jardin En Mediterranee and I 'get it'. Huzzah! Two lessons there - 1) don't try to smell too many different perfumes at once 2) It sometimes pays to give something a second chance! That being said, whilst it's definitely something I could see myself owning, it's doing a somewhat different thing to the Diptyque (which is scratching the fig itch more) - I suppose the name is the give away; it's a garden. It's on the 'future buy' list...although I've also been quite impressed by Sur de Nil too. Unfortunately John Lewis has temporarily sold out of Philosykos now though, so I'll have to wait to pick it up. Doh! Thanks again (I've also been working my way through a number of your reviewed perfumes to 'compare notes' including PoaL, Le Lion, Boy etc. It's a fantastic education).
