So I saw this at a launch party for the game, it was pretty cool. I can't say it was the centre piece of the party but people would wonder over to it and stare at it for a little bit maybe take a picture and go chat with friends. If I had to give feedback to the creator I'd say to try and make the flights flicker or do a very slight fad cause it's a very static piece as is. I think its either sat somewhere with the game publisher or it got sent to the game developer (more likely), but I've not seen it since that party. So as far as I know it was on display for around 3 days during the event.

It looked pretty cool when I got to see it in person but I think the diorama was more of a marketing piece to drag around to conventions when showing the game. I imagine that it's sat with the game developer atm. As for concept art, that doesn't usually take the form of a diorama (unless you have money and time to burn) because you have to iterate over the art quite quickly to find out what you want for the final game. You might have hundreds of possible drawings of a main character before their look is finalised... would be really cool to see someone try though

Please stop diminishing the artistic talent and hard work that goes into creating digital 3d models. It's not the compliment you think it is and it's incredibly disrespectful to both traditional and digital artists, it's not 'easy'. Art in any and all forms is hard work and calling one form the 'easy way' just shows everyone how little you know on the subject and how rude you are. @@Aurumai I don't know. I suppose it's possible that it could spontaneously combust but it would probably take a massive amount of resin to do that. BTW, plaster also produces heat as it sets, and can get pretty hot. My brother once got the bright idea to make a plaster cast of his hand. He filled a plastic bucket with plaster and stuck his hand in past the wrist. It didn't occur to him that the wrist is narrower than the hand. By the time the heat was starting to build up, the plaster was already hard enough that he couldn't get his hand out. Soon he was frantically running around shrieking and bashing the bucket against the concrete driveway, etc. Fortunately he managed to shatter the plaster before suffering serious burns.

Really awesome work! One thing that concerns me though is the LEDs being completely integrated into the diorama. If one of them were to fail/break, it would be impossible to replace/repair, which would be a real shame for such a gorgeous diorama. Would it perhaps be possible to utilize fiber optics instead? You could have the leds in a little box outside the diorama and use simple fiber optic wires to get the light to the right places in the diorama. Instead of having the power cable, you'd have a bundle of fiber optic cables.
