Maybe one day you could do something with platforms? Like 3 different platforms on top of each other,each representing a different time? Maybe a futuristic city, next a atomic explosion and least some apocalyptic monsters resulting in the explosion? :) I think that would look very cool!

Probably the same as most diorama artists. XPS foam, PVA glue, Acrylic Paints, static grass, and a 3d printer
