Good Morning! ☀️ I preach about the cuticle oil too now. I use to have really dry skin around my nails to the point that they would peel and I’d have cuts. Now I make my own cuticle oil and carry it in my purse and by my desk at work to remind me to use it and it’s made a world of a difference! Thanks for another vid! 💗

I like gel for dipping because it's easy, the brush doesn't get rock hard, and it's easier to file. Drawbacks are to me gel isn't as strong, and I have a really dark dip color I love, but it NEVER gets cured the whole way through from being so dark. Hopefully I've got a drill coming, that's strong enough for the acrylic! The one I have now isn't.

Hi Marla, I am thinking about starting to use dip powder. I am currently doing acrylic at home with a gel topcoat. I find your content extremely helpful. One question I have for you is in regards to your favorite dip liquids. I understand that you change your manicures frequently in order to post new content. Have you ever done a longer wear test with any products? I've seen the suggestions to prevent lifting, cracking, etc. I'm just trying to figure out the best products to start with since I usually do my nails about every 3 weeks. Thank you!
@MarlaKris2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely!! So I’ve used A LOT of dip liquids and what I’ve learned is that they’re all basically the same (it’s all resin - glue). The key to longevity is prep! The key to preventing cracking is having appropriate thickness and apex (where necessary) so it’s very similar to using acrylic with monomer! ❤️
@lynnegriffin96132 жыл бұрын
I did acrylic nails with acrylic powder and monomer lighid for years. Hands down dip is sooo much easyer!! Make sure to file all the shine off the nail and dry it off (i use alcohol). Make sure the base covers the whole nail. When the dip powder gets on the cutical use the pointed item (metal tip, toothpick or wood stick) to get the powder off before liquid hardens. The product i use gives plenty of time. Dont worry and have fun!

I did my first dip nails last night. Used ASP liquids and powder. Burgandy power looked great after 2 dips. Then dipped in Crystal clear dip to clear cap and it turned into chunks of white. Filed it down but still looked awful and white streaks. So I put on a coat a red gel polish and it saved the nails. Not sure if I did something wrong or if thevclear powder sucks? Any suggestions welcomed!

This was so helpful. So, you can use alcohol to prep the nail instead of a ph prep (like Mia Secret), or do you need both? If you want to use a peel base, I assume using the alcohol/nail prep would still be recommended…

I’m only a few seconds in but had to come comment my favorite cuticle thingy. I use one from the Meticulous Manicurist ....it is AMAZING! I definitely recommend. She has an awesome channel doing pedicures for people with not so great toes/nails. You can also learn about fungus, and other nail problems. She’s down to earth and very relatable. Hope it’s ok that I “promoted” another channel here. She also a has a cuticle remover/dissolving liquid that is the best thing ever.

What’s a dip liquid?

Dip liquid (base and top coat) is essentially resin that binds with the acrylic (dip) powder and the activator is what cures it and makes it hard and durable.

Not sure what you mean by a bonder, but the dip system doesn’t need a primer like gel or acrylic with monomer does. Only if you’re using gel liquids.
