Zach has a humbleness, deference, and sincere curiosity that makes him a great interviewer (here, with PRS, with Lettieri, etc.). Enjoyed this, thanks.

Really fantastic interview Zach!! I realize and it's clear you already have a rapport with each other but your interviewing skills are seriously on point! Look forward to future guests on the show. Thanks for everything. Mythos for life haha!!

So correct about creating beig the actual goal. Played for 17 years and wrote a few songs but never did anything with them, now I just did a 2 song pro recorded session with my band, wrote the songs and am very happy with them. I think you need to take that step (same with playing live) and push outside of your comfort zone to continue to grow and reach your potential

The comment about not waiting to try something hit me at the right moment. I judge my guitar playing all the time - with good reason - but I know the tone that speaks to me. I'm going to spend more time seeking that.

In my experience a great Zonk has all the magic of a great MK1 Tonebender but has more edge because of the filter and the right balance of flutey mids w/some gate and aggression

I've got a Boss AW-3 Dynamic Wah, and FV500H volume pedal I'm using as an expression pedal to get the "wah pedal" thing. I had a small bypass footswitch custom made to allow me to be able to instantly switch between the two (pedal and auto). That would make a cool pedal.

Great episode as always! Joey totally seems like a cool hang. I’m a recent convert after seeing them on TPS and a few other vlogs but man do they rock!!!

Hey Zack everyone from Winnipeg is most excellent, also we produce a lot of really good music, Joey and Dave are a testament to that. I think that when Joey was born, Lowell George was overlooking things and found the perfect vessel to nurture. I was in the bar one night, and I thought I was listening to a Little Feat track I’ve never heard, pulled out the Shazam and low and behold it was the Bros., Keep on putting it out there

I don’t need to know an artist to appreciate their music; however, it’s cool when someone you admire creatively seems like a really good person too.

To Joey’s comment, it has become so cost prohibitive to go to big shows lately that I’m starting to be more interested in going to smaller shows and spending some money on merch. I actually saw The Bros. in Ottawa last June. Got their shirt and one from the opening act. They’re a great reminder of an awesome concert. 👍

Please take a shot at an envelope filter, love ‘em for funk or late 70’s era dead stuff. It would be cool to have a switchable mode where the filter reliably opens with 5.9-6.2 wound Strat PU’s without needing a boost in front.

Joey's comments around the 40 minute mark really echo how I feel. Fantastic technique is great, really it is, but it has to serve the music.

As is typical of anything featuring Joey Landreth, this was just wonderful. Really went deep on certain points that are rarely talked about in touring & margins, the perception of Canada & Canadians, all good shit. I dug the Dad talk, which as a childless curmudgeon is super rare to say genuinely. And yeah...I'd buy a Deadbeat Podcast Dad shirt (depending on the design).

So, buying merch online straight from the artist is one of the best ways to support an artist?

Honestly ya, most bands and artists live kff merchandise and patron or fan engagement sites which is sad but thats where the industry is at

Considering Joey’s ability to make a functioning supercomputer-pedalboard, I can’t wait to see a minimalist board by him- What’s a bare essential Landreth tone look like?

Would love to see more shitty rigs. A lot of people seem to submit rigs in a checklist to get the most points on dipped in tone, I'd love to see what people are actually using.
