Dippers - A Most Unique Bird

Dippers are the only bird that can walk on the bottom of fast moving streams where they find aquatic insects and the occasional fish.

I don't know but every dipper I've ever seen, including one in China, does it. It is like they are programed to dip.

It is thought that it might be a way to maintain visual contact in a noisy environment where calling probably wouldn't be heard.

I know that Thailand Wild is extremely knowledgeable. Dippers call at a frequency that can easily be heard over the sound of the water.

@@JudyLehmbergEpicNature Ah.... interesting. I've also seen it suggested that they bob to help avoid detection by predators, but that doesn't seem very credible. So my final theory is that they enjoy bobbing.
