Those green algae will turn into white sand after two weeks but duting summer they are visible. Best time to go there is in september until february because the beach is free from green algae.

I swam with that "green stuff" last year Mergim and I don't mind. They say those are responsible for keeping the white sand in its powdery texture.
@revelinagarcia2539 Жыл бұрын
The green stuff is seaweed. It is seasonal. It is supposed to be responsible for keeping the sand white and very fine. In the 1980's I traveled there the shoreline was lined with coconut trees and very very few houses. What a huge change . I am from Aklan. Been living in Canada for over 30 years. We will be there in August. Thanks for showing us the places.

The leading cause of the algae problem in Boracay is the excess nutrients in the water. This is due to the area’s lack of proper waste management and sewage treatment practices. Sewage and other forms of waste are discharged directly into the sea, increasing nitrogen and phosphorus levels. This provides an ideal environment for algae to thrive. Nothing to do with keeping the sand white 😅

FYI: Urinating at the beach, sunscreen lotions, and outside showers contribute to the algal bloom in Boracay during the first quarter of every year. “Also, all dishwashing wastes should not be poured in the ground.
