Kyo's lyrics are usually told from different perspectives - so they are most likely not related to his own person quite so literally - but all their songs have a human aspect that speaks to a lot of people - parental abuse certainly is one of these themes. And Kyo has a true gift in not only seeing these themes or feeling for people but actually taking himself in their place and portraing their pain. Sometimes he takes dates to connect the song to an actual event that happened but sometimes we can't be certain where they come from - from a narrative point of view it adds a lot of sincerety and makes the story feel more realistic - thereby creating a persona you can actually relate to. I love the music they created around the lyrics - it really portraits a deeply sad state where you feel powerless to 'fight back' [against what has already happened] and a kind of acceptance towards an unacceptable situation - there is no real break musically at the point the story takes a different turn. I like that. It's neither a revenge story nor does it give people the impression that they could simply get out of a situation without keeping any scars. To move forward never means leaving the past behind, because the past keeps existing inside of us - we will always take it with us into the future, right?

I hope you're right because if it's a real experience.... this is clearly about being raped by one's own father figure as a child. It's a painful song. It suggests the victim murdered their abuser only to vomit the next day, as in, were pregnant - thus, embryo. And that's absolutely horrifying. I truly hope Kyo isn't expressing anything personal here. Either way, I think this delicate topic is powerful to talk about and that the band did a fantastic job covering it. The message that sexual abuse is evil is firm in both versions

@@JosephTheAustin Kyo has said in interviews that his parents even go to their concerts, so it's not personal, his father hasn't raped him and his mother is still alive. Kyo sings from the perspective of a girl in this song, so he is just talking about this topic to make people think like he always does. He's so good at doing this that it really feels like something real tho.

To me this story is... he's singing as a little girl, whose mother hung herself. She was alone. Her father, lost, sexually abused her. She was alone. She couldn't take it anymore and stabbed him to death... she was alone. Then she vomits, realizing she's pregnant. She's... not alone? Or is she? It's dark, horrifying, visceral. Powerful. It makes us care, and that I think is what Kyo wants us to do. This band doesn't sing about evil things just for shock. They want you to engage these things. Stop them from happening.

Yeah, they're storytellers that gives you "experience". And when it's live, the lead singer turns into the actual main character. Looking possessed as if he is actually experiencing that pain within that story.

I forgot how much I liked this song! Dir en grey actually has a lot of melodic features in many songs. One good one also is Glass Skin.

I remember listing to this song in 2007 and not knowing the translation but still, it used to make me get emotional as hell. To me, this is art. The possibility os transmit feelings and making people feel it, even though they haven't lived it.

You guys realizing at the end that this is an opportunity to heal highlights the point of this entire genre. Dir en Grey sings about the worst and darkest elements of humanity precisely so we can put light on it... and a stop to it. Even if this song isn't metal, that's what metal ~is~. If you can't SCREAM about bad things, nobody will care. Metal screams because we have to scream, or nobody will hear it. It's sort of like Horton Hears a Who. Someone has to grab a megaphone and be like 'CHILDREN ARE BEING ABUSED'. If that one scream busts through the clouds, one cry for help, change can happen.

There's a lot of their earlier songs that address this type of material, and they don't shy away from the women's POV or even the POV of a fetus (foreboding? Yes) and often with this same sort of off-kilter musical style.
