I highly recommend watching their live performances rather than music videos, this is a completely different level

I am so happy to finally see you discover Dir en grey :) I have to say that most of their songs will probably leave you with a feeling of "What is going on with this track?" because they are a very experimental band that doesn't shy away from doing new things with each and every album [or song even]. The Final [2005] is one of their most straightforward songs and a fan participation song for live shows so I think for you it was a really good song to start with. Because Dir en grey are an incredible live band I would always recommend listening and watching their live performances [as well]. There are numerous amazing versions of The Final, some of them more on the artistic side [the song is about suicide and for one performence for example they chose to play it as a backing track only, the entire band off-stage with just the audience singing thereby representing the gape, the thing missing that a person leaves behind after death/ after killing themselves. You could really feel the audience connecting to that with each and everyone bringing their own stories to the table and creating a moment of communial grief.] and others that appear like a pure celebration of life even with the dark thoughts and feelings that may surround us from time to time. Really unique band. And yes, they are still active. They started in 1997 and never had a change in their line-up. They just finished a Europe and domestic Tour this year ^^ Even though this song WILL most likely give you a feeling of "what is going on" I agree with the majority of comments and would love to see you do a reaction to Vinushka live from ANDROGYNOUS.

This band is 30 years old and still together and still performing. Kyo is the frontman, very unique, he has a voice of over 5 octaves, and is very theatrical. You have seen the founding father of the Visual Key style.

I was blessed to see them live. I initially liked just one or two of their songs (liked Die the guitarist playstyle) but ... When i first walked thru the First Avenue doors, i sealed my fate to forever be diehard fan. Their energy, technical skill, and powerful artistry puts a lot of American bands to shame. You seriously cant take your eyes off Kyo (the singer) at all.

Kyo is an extraordinary and versatile vocalist, in many ways he reminds me of Ado. In this song, we only hear a tiny fraction of his capabilities and the emotion he can incorporate. It's in live performances that we get the best of him. For a more comprehensive glimpse, I recommend the live version of Vinushka, or as a shorter second choice, Ranunculus. You can find both with english fansub. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmmtoGWuaNGUjtE kzbin.info/www/bejne/innJfIKflq-BgLc

Hi and thank you for checking out DeG! That always makes me so happy to see people enjoy and appreciate their music! They're together, active and as cool as never before. They just finished their tour in Japan, good job guys hahaha I would definitely love to see you checking out more. Personally I suggest watching live performances because that's just where they shine the brightest. J-metal bands just know how to put on a bombastic show. As for the songs, Vinushka (Androgynous live) is definitely a must! And, if I can suggest a request, I would love to see you checking out the Gazette. That's my favourite Japanese metal band and I feel like it might be right up your alley as well. Deux or Ugly (also live) would be amazing!

This song could be considered a rock-anthem but as other commenters have mentioned doesn't really show off the band's skill beyond showing their skill to write a catchy rock-anthem. They don't stick to any song writing style and you could pull several songs that sound like they couldn't have been made by the same people, but they've had no line up changes. The vocalist has many voices including some highly coveted but not yet replicated vocal techniques unique to him. He's also great at showing emotion as well as performing theatrics. Vinushka performance from Androgynous is the standard recommendation. Schadenfreude live performance is newer and less recommended but I think the song would have the same effect/shows off the same side of the band.

This is a good song by them, but it's not necessarily the best at showing off their abilities. One of their live performances that impressed me the most is Vinushka (ANDROGYNOUS one), if you're ready for an almost 10 min song 😄

I’m glad you check out Dir en grey, “the final” came out in 2005. I would suggest you to listen to their live version. Kyo the vocalist would sing even with injuries on his vocal cords just to convey the meaning of the lyrics he wrote, I would recommend you the following songs to have a peek on what they are as a band, these all are their shorter songs and they are all live performances Revelation of mankind (Arche Live) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppDKaqNuipeWoJIsi=4Qrlfn0kqkmRX3oA Tousei (Arche Live) kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3KQq4uef6enhLssi=ol07h5gVRIPs4_eb Soshaku (Arche live) kzbin.info/www/bejne/maLdmWOMrdyDgpIsi=vGMgIiOgyXPD83hX Uroko (Arche live) kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5ysaplsnrRojtUsi=DAYOrk6utWFZPm-J The Final (live) kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6HQoJhso8d6q6csi=5HNUEnnSNvTUmJb4 Entangled with fury inside that chest, exchange an unshakable tomorrow for the darkness of causalgia (Live in Budokan, screaming without microphone version) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpOWiKqEfq6tra8si=HCDWC0Lk0m5ZiPuq

If you really want to hear kyo doing his thing you have to listen schadenfreude (live) is from the last album of the band and resumes prety well what he can do . Kyo have a vocal range of 5 octaves and 2 semitones, but i actually i like to record some notes that come from his most avant-garde voice, so its range (in my opinion) goes from a D1 to a B6, (its trebles have many overtones so it is very difficult to know which octave they belong to)

What a nostalgia, heard The Final last time years ago. If you liked Dir en Grey you might like MUCC. For example I recommend their song Gokusai.

Thank you but it's not the best song of dir en grey! Please react the song "Vinushka" (androginous live) or "macabre" (live tabula rasa)❤

Vinushka is probably their truest masterpiece, and that performance is insane. I would also recommend it, and with the subtitles because the lyrics are also insanely good.

Dir en grey is always much better live, studio lacks all the energy and emotion they bring on the stage. As someone said already, check "Vinushka" (androginous live) to get a better idea about what Kyo can do with his voice and why was compared with ADO's .
