If you have the chance, go see them live. The band is like no other in pulling you in. Absolutely worth it every time. Sometimes you will get perfectly clean singing, sometimes you'll get raw emotion like this one.

It's like the older they get. The stronger they are. Kyo is a mad man. And delivers every time.

Man, they have a lot of performances like this where Kyo is completely living in the song. There’s a live version of “Tousei” that a lot of us like (it’s thumbnail is blue on YT, and has Eng subs)!

Dir en grey is the one band I will never get over. I've started listening to them when I still a teenager and basically grew up with them. No other band can make me feel so much through their music. I've used every chance I had to go to concerts and that is so worth it. Would highly recommend to go see them live.

I think I'll die with ecstasy if I attend their concert 😂 somewhere in the middle of Diabolos performance ...

I stumbled once again on your reaction to diru, who are criminally unknown due to the language barrier but also the often unorthodox music they make. Kyo is a performer of lyrics and raw emotions! The older he gets, the less (or more?) he cares about vocal perfection! It's just emotions! Even if I don't understand the lyrics, it's impossible not to get the lump in my throat and tears in my eyes! It's the one and only band I love each and every song they made! And I'm been listening for more than 25 years! But I'm aware their music is not for everyone

I’m so happy you came back to DIR EN GREY. Been a fan for 14 years. Never a dull moment. Yes, they are still touring and still active. Currently doing a tour in Japan. I checked them out in 2019 last time they came to the states. Pease try to see them live. They are truly unique.

What a great reaction. Thank you for this one! Oboro is one of their most popular songs from the last years and that's probably because the studio version is downright radio-friendly. It has always been one of my favourite things with Dir en grey that they are a band that truly performs songs, meaning every song takes on a different and new layer when it's played on stage and the interpretation you might have had of a song when listening to the studio version sometimes gets completely overthrown by how it is played/sung live on a particular day. And every album has a different concept, also concerning live performances. They have some album that were clearly recorded for studio enjoyment and to explore new effects and ways of writing music where the idea of playing them live wasn't at the forefront and which than HAD to take on a completely different direction live because of a complexity that was (at the time) impossible to fully translate to the stage (I'm thinking of _Macabre_ and _DUM SPIRO SPERO_ in particular), and then there are albums which were written with a particular live setting in mind which kept evolving during the tours until it reached a strange kind of perfection (I'm especially thinking about _The Insulated World_ here, an album that didn't quite catch me from the beginning which is unusual for me with this band, but then I had the chance to watch 7 shows with this album and the first one left me in pieces and made me cry for the first time in 10 years or so because I finally saw, felt and understood the vision the band had with this album which totally escaped me for the year I had already listened to it). A couple of their songs fit perfectly together and it's almost a shame they don't always play them together (even when they appear in the same setlist), "Oboro", for me, will always lead straight into "The Wolrd of Mercy" which I would highly recommend watching as soon as you get the time. These two songs together are a deadly combination. And if you want to check out something that will showcase Kyo's clean vocals in an emotional context that does not work over "emotional outbreak" I would recommend his second band sukekiyo and especially their song "elisabeth addict", you can find a translated version on Kaya's channel.

Last time watching them live, the song right before was "mazohyst of decadence", a song about a women getting an abortion. He then, well, acts it out, and moves right into this song. First, and maybe only, time I've cried at live usic

Thank youfor bringing them back. I love your reaction! Deffinitely go see them. They were in Europe this year, so maybe they will tour US next year? Watching them live-live is whole other experience. Live footage doesn't compare. I would recomment The world of mercy as another reaction. Or react to sukekiyo. That's another band formed by Kyo. Completely different sound. I would pick Tada, mada, watashi or Homonsha X. And don't worry abou thinking Kyo may not be a good singer. It's often hard to tell 😂

I have loved Diru since 2005 when they were under Yoshiki's label but sadly only seen them twice (heck the first time i saw them they opened for Korn. I don't even like Korn but I jumped at the chance to see Dir en Grey). But both times were amazing & I'd absolutely love to see them do their stuff from the last decade & a half. They have always been such a musically tight group & held to their vision while also playing with their sound & musicality. Like every album is so musically different yet undeniably a Diru album. One of the few bands that can achieve that consistently

I love this song and also think this is the best performance of this song. I think the song is sang about deep regret of guilty mother ,her kid killed by abuse from husband. Kyo”the vocal” acting her as like she possessed ,and his shout like her screams. Anyway, thanks reacting this show. I hope this song could be a chance of save someone’s life. And pray for the kids to rest in peace.

they performed Oboro this EU tour and it was absolutely mindblowing and soul-shaking to experience it live, it made my dream come true to witness it and trust me when I say that the 4 shows I attended this tour were not nearly enough, each is different even if the concept was the same.

I saw this song performed at the last show of their Phalaris Part III tour. At first I thought his voice was giving out because it was the end of the tour, but his emotion in this song is insane. The studio version of this is hauntingly beautiful, but live, it’s a full-on experience. Thanks for coming back to Dir en grey; I hope you get to see them live one day.

They are finally back on your channel yaaay! So lucky to be watching your reaction! I'm very happy to see how people grow on them from song to song cause that's what happened to me - I neglected their music for maaaany years until my friend sat me down and played several live shows in a row (and mind me I'm a sucker for j-metal). Then I finally got it. I think it's just that even for the Japanese scene DeG are very unique and unconventional and it takes some mental effort to go out of a comfort zone to be open to their music. Good luck with Twitch and I'll be always waiting for more DeG stuff in here! 👻
