I am from North. Got my college in an engineering college in Trichy. Mu roommates were from Tamil Nadu and Andhra. Is started to watch their movies. Only in 3rd year I started watching malayalam movies and I have to say on an average they produce best movies. Tamil industries produce the best movies but the problem is on an average because of many bad movies overall the tamil movie industry is a bit inferior to Malayalam. Telugu movie industry is best at mass movies. Very simple story line. Mass moments. Big sets. I remember watching this mahesh babu movie called nenokkadine, I guess. It was very good but my many telugu friends didn't like that movie. Whenever my telugu friends go to theatres I go with them. I can't comprehend 20-30% dialogues but I still go because it's like a festival. Bollywood is good pre 1980. Recently in covid I saw many old movies like mother India, seeta geeta, deewar,etc. They are pretty good. My first malayalam movie was okiri raja or pokira raja something. Didn't like that much. Then I saw premam. And damm. That was good. Then I saw a mohanlal movie, I love his acting. I saw odiyan and lucifer, and that movie where he is a punjabi guy. Lucifer was really good.

Kannada industry was way ahead of all the industries interms of technology and story telling, if any one has a doubt, watch some of the movies directed by puttana kangal, siddalingaiah of 70s, and movies directed by shankarnag in 80s and by upendra in 2000s. Best examples of such movies are ondu muttina kathe, accident, bhootayyana maga ayyu, gejje pooje, A, Upendra, etc...
