I realise this clip is being translated for French speakers but as an English speaker I can’t hear a word Knopfler is speaking.

Mark speaking with his Geordie accent is great to hear like Sting it's sad that they both dropped their natural accent once they became famous
@lesleywright888022 күн бұрын
He didn't "drop it". He lived in London from when he was about 25/26. Lived in New York for at least ten years 1983 to 1993, and has mostly lived in Chelsea since then. Your accent would change too, as mine did after only a year in America. I still hear bits of Geordie now and again. Our voices change as we age. If you met someone who hadn't spoken to you for 30 years plus, you'd sound different too.

@lesleywright8880 I'm Irish from Dublin my relatives still speak with Dublin accents even though they went to England as teenagers in the 1960s now their in their 70s knopler and sting dropped their accents and bono done the same with his Irish accent because they.wanted to sound like Bob dylan when they spoke
@lesleywright888022 күн бұрын
@@georgesturdy7040 my parents migrated to Australia in 1961. When they went back to England in 1991, all their relatives told them they sounded like Australians. Nobody in Australia thought they sounded even remotely Australian. You're hearing what you want to hear, but it's not there. It's a product of travelling, living all over the world and being married to an English woman the last thirty years! If you search hard enough, you'll find a video where Mark Knopfler does a great impersonation of Bob Dylan. It's spot on, but nothing like Knopfler's normal speaking voice. But tell me all about this conversation you had with Mark where he told you he was changing his accent to sound like Bob Dylan? Did he drop around for a cup of tea and mention it to you casually?
