Love their first 2 albums because that's the Dire Straits that hit me as a youngster ~ that unique sound. Kind of a mix of Bob Dylan & JJ Cale. I lost interest after that. They have almost 2 million subscribers just on YT. That's more than Bob Dylan has!

I grew up with daily music of the Dire straits when living with my parents in my younger days. My dad was able to play every song on his red Fender guitar. 🔥🎸❤️ Played in bands and was well known in my local country area. Now because of circumstances and his age he can't play the guitar anymore. For him it is like dying a little bit...😢 Your music was and still is really his and our life ! Lady writer is one of our favorites, he also have seen the Dire Straits live end of the seventies. And lucky , now his 2 grandsons are playing the Dire Straits ...isn't that beautiful ? 💫

I think most people would agree that Dire Straits are one of the great bands of their time BUT… DS have something that makes them that little bit more special - their own ‘sound’ !!! No other band sounds like DS. There are a million amazing rock bands from the 70’s and 80’s but when DS come on, you know instantly who you’re listening to and that’s a very unique thing to have for a band. Love them 😎

I have loved Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler (I am also a fan of Mark's solo work), since the beginning: That said, I appreciate the guys even more, and am even more enthralled than ever, as a matured (and trained) musician, writer and poet. Furthermore, now that I am in the final stages of a terminal illness, I find that rewatching these videos of their performances is one of the very few things that makes me feel truly happy and alive in the moment (in addition to the nostalgia and artistic appreciation, I suspect it also has something to do with the dopamine, adrenaline, serotonin and / or endorphins that are released as a result). Thank you guys, for the decades of amazing performances, musicianship and engaging lyrics... and for playing me off the stage these days, as it were. 😉🙏💙

Mark is a musical genius and a fantastic lyricist. He's been lauded for his incredible guitar sounds, but his lyrics over the years have been just as incredible. Truly, he was born for this.
